MiniMEDIA v1.25 - 32-bit media player for Windows 95 & NT
----------------------------------------------------------

Description:
------------
Adds three small media control buttons (play, stop, rewind)
and three application control buttons (mode, minimize,
exit) to the Windows desktop. For video files, displays a viewing
window with REW, FF and default size buttons.

If selected, displays a progress slider below the buttons.

Starts playback of a file if the name of the file is given as
a command line argument.

If no file name is given as a command line argument, a file open
dialog is displayed.

The button bar floats on top of other windows on the desktop and is movable.

Can save files (use the pop up menu activated by pressing the right mouse
button above the button bar), and load files.

Very useful with a web browser, and as an associated viewer in Windows
Explorer.

Supported media types:
----------------------
In general, you will be able to play any media files that your system supports
using MiniMEDIA. All the types that appear in e.g. Windows media player are
usable in MiniMEDIA.

For AVI movies, install video compression (Control Panel / Add-Remove programs
/Windows Setup / multimedia / video compression). For some AVI formats you may
require new drivers from the net.

For compressed WAV files, install audio compression (see above).

For MPEG and Quicktime movies, install ActiveMovie. You can find it e.g. at
http://207.68.137.46/msdownload/ieinstall/amov4ie.exe (an MS site).

Installing MiniMEDIA
--------------------
Guided installation: run the program setup.exe that came in the ZIP file with the program.

Manual installation:
	a) Windows 95 and NT 4.0 users: copy the file Minmedia.EXE
to a suitable directory. The program is ready to run.

	b) Earlier versions of Windows NT: copy the file ctl3d32.dll
to the winnt35\system32 directory. NOTE: you may encounter
problems if you leave the dll into the same directory with
	Minmedia.exe.

Registered vs. unregistered
---------------------------
- The registered version uses an INI file to save the location
of the program window every time the program shuts down. So, the program
  'remembers' it's previous location.
- In the registered version there is an INI file setting that makes the
program shut down automatically after playing through a WAV if none of the
buttons is pressed during the playback.
- A mixer (volume control) application can also be specified in the INI file
of the registered version. The mixer is started from the pop up menu.
- Of course, there is no message box appearing at the end
  of the program.
- If you use the program beyond a 30 day trial period, you must register.
There is more information on registering and registration benefits in the file
REGISTER.TXT.
