installing and using the plugin :

To get the plugin work You must have WinAMP version 1.6x !
Simply copy the file hd_vis.dll into Your WinAMP directory and it is available.
To choose analyzer as Your WinAMP plugin press CTRL-K (or use the context menu
at the WinAMP window) to open the preferences dialog. Select the tab "Plugins".
Now You can activate the visualization library and the module.

Rightclick into the analyzer to bring up a context menu for the functions.
Doubleclick into the drawing area of the spectrum or vu-meter to disable it.
Leftclick and drag to move the window if its not attached to WinAMP.

Have fun !

how can I honour the great work :

Thank all of You for your replies and bug-reports ! If You like drop me an
e-mail or (much better) send me a nice postcard from Your home :) at the adress
above.

fixes and version history :

version 1.1f released 15.12.97 :

o fixed error that causes the analyzer window not to show if it is activated
o fixed the configuration dialog not to crash if the plugin is not started
o changed the way to check if WinAMP has moved and the plugin has to follow
     (occured if windowshademode was activated)
[Rule 1: never release a program at 2.00am in a hurry ... sorry for this]

version 1.1 released 12.12.97 :

o removed the overflow bug of the vu-meter if You used the WinAMP equalizer
to raise then gain to brainscratching levels
[tip from various users but Marcus Mueller sended the only DETAILED info]
  o swapped the vu-meters to correct left/right values :)
     [tip from Peter Miroslav TCHervinka]
o now supporting the doublesize mode
     [known limitation of v1.0]
o the spectrum analyzer shows now the average output of the two channels
     [look above]
o slightly improved the spectrum calculation speed (the analyzer uses a
9-bit FFT; if I would use an 8-bit calculation the speed would doubled but
the frequency resolution output were less; so I decided not to change it
[You can use of course the vu-meter function - this consumes nearly no
      cpu-time])
  o support for NAD - the mp3-player
     [tip of NAD]
o by doubleclicking in the drawing area of the analyzer or the vu-meter You
     can now disable it
o added a context menu by left-clicking in the plugin window
o repainted the window to match a bit better WinAMP
o added a textfile with useful? information about the plugin
o now several attachment modes available (and a config dialog for them) :
       - the old way at the bottom of WinAMP
       - on top of WinAMP
       - not attached ! You can move it around with the left button dragging
and even minimize WinAMP to show only the analyzer.
o programmed the meters to show now the real?! data; v1.0 was optimized to
show nice values but now its gone for true analyzer display :
       - the vu-meter is logarithmically scaled from 2 to -40 db
       - the spectrum shows 0 to 5 kHz logarithmic frequencies and the level
         is also logarithmically scaled
[tip from Dejan Kamenek; look at http://www.uni-mb.si/~uelulv13b/]

version 1.0 released 20.11.97 :

  o first release to public
o works for me and I hope for You to

thats all !
