AIPL Singulator(tm) Overview
----------------------------
AIPL Singulator is designed to save you time and money. It records analog albums and tapes into separate wave files on your computer in real time, i.e. it singulates your analog recordings, and then automatically stops recording when finished. While Singulator is working, you can be off playing (or getting other work done). In addition, it is much easier and faster to interact with these smaller wave files than one large wave file, and your computer will crash less often.

Once your album or tape has been recorded into separate wave files, you can then use other inexpensive products for noise reduction (Cool Edit <www.syntrillium.com> automatic batch script included!). Finally, you can convert these singles to MP3, real or liquid audio, or you can burn them to a CD.

The program has been designed with the utmost regard for quality, both in terms of sound processing and user interaction. The sound separation algorithm is based upon a theoretical and experimental analysis of old analog recordings. The user interface is designed for maximum flexibility.

To this end, AIPL Singulator is easy to use. You begin using Singulator by choosing the type of analog audio you are recording from the predefined presets. Optionally, you can select the customize button, and design your own settings to singulate your analog audio. Next, you select a base file name. The program will then save the singles by adding a 1, 2, 3, etc. to the end of the base file name. Then, you click the record button. Note that if any files will be overwritten, Singulator will warn you. While separating your analog audio, Singulator displays filename and time information. When finished, you can burn your CD or compressing them to MP3.

Most importantly, Singulator does not remove any audio, so if it accidentally separates one song to several files, you can recombine the files.
