Please read this file in it's entirety.

Boot Guard is a DOS based program designed to function with DOS 3.x,
Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows 98. Boot Guard loads prior to
Windows eliminating the security problems inherent with Windows.
You should keep in mind that Boot Guard only functions when the
computer is starting, and cannot provide security from within the
Windows environment.

Boot Guard provides adequate security for most home and office
users.

Installation Instructions:

DOS and Windows 3.1 users

For DOS and Windows 3.1 Users we provide 3 files for download
or available on floppy disk, including this readme.txt file. To
install copy the files to a floppy disk (if not already on one)
and insert the disk in your A: drive. Switch to the A: prompt,
type INSTALL <enter>, and follow the instructions.

Windows 95 and Windows 98 users

You should have downloaded the bootgard.zip file. If you do not
have the Winzip(r) program to unzip the file you can download it
at www.winzip.com or www.download.com We recommend unzipping the
file to the default folder, then from Windows Explorer double
click on the INSTALL file, and follow the instructions below.

Installing Boot Guard:

You will see a welcome screen. Pressing <esc> will exit, any
other key will continue installation.
You will be prompted to enter new password, followed by confirm
the new password. This is your standard password. Make sure you
enter it exactly as you want it both times. Make sure you pay
attention to how your Caps Lock is set. If you enter it
differently you will be prompted to try again.
Next you will be prompted for the master password. It must not
be the same as your standard password. This is the password that
will unlock your system if someone tries to breach it.
Next you will be prompted to confirm your master password. Once
again it must match your first entry exactly. Boot Guard will
then install itself. It will function the next time you reboot
your computer.

After installation:

Changing passwords can be done by pressing F2 at the first password
screen. You will be prompted for your existing passwords before
being able to change them. To keep one password the same and change
the other simply reenter it as the same password.

You may uninstall Boot Guard at any time. Press the F3 key at
the first password screen. You must enter the master password before
you can uninstall.

Registering:

You have 28 days to register Boot Guard. To do so press the F4 key
at the first password screen and enter your registration key.

Using Boot Guard:

Boot Guard uses a two tier password system. You will be required
to enter a standard password and a master password, which must be
different. Boot Guard is CASE SENSITIVE so make certain you know
how your caps lock key is set before installing.

The standard password is the one you will use each time you boot.
Boot Guard logs unsuccessful attempts to breach security and should
3 attempts be made it will lock the system and ask for the master
password. At that point you have one opportunity to enter the
correct password. Failure requires rebooting the system, at which
time you will be asked for the master password again. Once you
enter the master password you are given the option of printing
to your screen or printer the log file which contains the password
attempted, as well as the date and time of each attempt. Do not lose
or forget your passwords or you WILL NOT be able to access your
computer. Yes, we can access the codes to unlock it, but we will
charge you for the service and require authentication of your
identity. You will find it much simpler to just store the passwords
in a safe place in case you forget them.

If you downloaded the trial version you will have 28 days to decide
if you wish to keep the program and pay the minimal charge of $15.00 U.S.
This allows you time to pay by check and receive your registration key
prior to expiration of the trial program. Of course, you may pay via
credit card on our secure server at www.swhost.com at any time get your
registration key right away.

Enjoy the security Boot Guard provides for your computer and visit our
website often for upcoming software releases and our many other services.
