Zip-n-Send Overview
==========================================

Zip-n-Send allows to send selected files via e-mail as a compressed zip-
file with just a couple of mouse clicks. It is simple yet very efficient!
You merely select a group of files or folders to be send by e-mail and then
right click the group to invoke a context menu.
Now you open Zip-n-Send submenu and choose the most suitable archive
name suggested by Zip-n-Send automatically.
Zip-n-Send uses the following methods to suggests you a set of names
for the archive file:
- Parent folder name
- Most often appeared file name for selected items
- Name of file being clicked to invoke a context menu
- Template-based predefined name
If there is no suitable name in the list you can choose Send As... and
enter the desired name.
Zip-n-Send will now compress the selected files in the background and
compose a new mail message with the archive file attached.
If you want to hide the progress bar window you can click the Hide button
and then control the process using Zip-n-Send icon on Task Bar.
You can set Zip-n-Send options to hide the progress bar window
automatically on start working.
As a compression process completes Zip-n-Send automatically creates a
new mail message with just created archive file attached.
You can specify a mail client to be used by Zip-n-Send for sending
archives. Zip-n-Send supports about dozen of popular mailers and also
allows you to specify a custom command line to be invoked to compose a
message and attach an archive file.
Thanks to Zip-n-Send, you do not have to think where to create archives.
Even more, you do not have to think about removing archive files after
they have been sent. Zip-n-Send manages its own Temporary Archive
Files folder and automatically removes archive files that are no longer
needed.
Although continue managing archives with WinZip, just rely on Zip-n-Send
to send files via e-mail.

==========================================
Setting up Zip-n-Send
==========================================

Before installing Zip-n-Send, make sure the computer is running Windows
95/98 or Windows NT 4.0. There must be approximately 250Kb of free
space on the system disk (the disk where Windows directory resides).
There are no other requirements to install Zip-n-Send.
Once you have the SETUPZNS.EXE file, you have all you need to setup
the product. Just run it! Now you can enjoy the Welcome screen and go
further to read the License Agreement. If you agree with all terms, press
Next and setup wizard will proceed to the important point: Name and
Organization Information screen.
If you have already registered the product, please enter the information
obtained from your Zip-n-Send vendor. Note that Name and Organization
fields are case sensitive, so please type the information carefully (exactly
as it appears in your registration form). If you have not yet registered Zip-
n-Send and would like to use it for evaluation purposes leave all the
fields blank and proceed to the next screen. Note that evaluation version
of Zip-n-Send has all functionality of the registered version.
After you have supplied the registration data you are prompted to proceed
to copy Zip-n-Send files to your computer. Setup procedure installs the
following files: ZIPNSEND.DLL to Windows\System directory,
ZIPNSEND.HLP and ZIPNSEND.CNT to Windows\Help directory. After
copying the files, setup wizard also updates system registry to register
Zip-n-Send components.
The next setup wizard screen prompts you to specify a mail client to be
used by Zip-n-Send for composing messages and attaching archive files.
You can browse to select a mail client you use to send messages in the
list of predefined mail clients supported by Zip-n-Send. If you find your
mail client as supported by default, just select it and press Next to
proceed to the last step of setup wizard.
If your mail client is not mentioned in the list, select User-defined mail
client and press Next to proceed to the user-defined mail client
configuration screen. Here you need to tell Zip-n-Send how to use your
mail client to compose a new message and attach an archive file to it. To
do this, you should specify the command line to be invoked by Zip-n-Send
every time it needs to compose a new message with an archive file
attached. Check your mail client documentation for command line options.
Note that you can click Insert Macro button to put an archive file name
placeholder (either for long or short MS-DOS name) on the command line.
If you have deployed Zip-n-Send on the network for evaluation and then
registered it, this topic explains how to distribute the registration
information automatically to all computers running Zip-n-Send.

==========================================
Removing Zip-n-Send
==========================================

To remove Zip-n-Send from the computer, open the Add/Remove
Programs applet. Choose Install/Uninstall tab and select Zip-n-Send in the
list of installed software. Press the Add/Remove button to remove Zip-n-
Send from the computer.

==========================================
How to simplify Zip-n-Send rollout
==========================================

If you have just a few computers on the network you may merely skip the
following information. In turn, if there are dozens or thousands of
machines, you are highly recommended to understand how to simplify
Zip-n-Send rollout.

Unattended setup

Zip-n-Send setup procedure can be run in unattended mode. So you can
easily automate Zip-n-Send installation across the network using any
desktop management system available (for example Microsoft Systems
Management Server).
To run setup procedure unattended create the setup parameters file and
pass its name to SETUPZNS.EXE on the command line. If you do not
specify the full path to the setup parameters file, the directory where
SETUPZNS.EXE resides will be assumed. If the setup procedure fails
SETUPZNS.ERR file will be created in the root directory of drive <C:>.
You may check for this file to decide whether the setup procedure has
been completed successfully.

Installation template

Zip-n-Send rollout can also be made efficiently when you clone all the
software by copying preconfigured installation to newly added computers
(rather than going through step-by-step setup procedures on each of
them).
In this case you should run Zip-n-Send setup procedure only once to put
Zip-n-Send on the computer being used as an installation template. You
can then configure Zip-n-Send options and once you have finished, the
installation template can be cloned without spending time on configuring
Zip-n-Send manually on all of the cloned computers.
How to distribute the registration information automatically
If you have deployed Zip-n-Send on the large network for evaluation and
then registered it, you can distribute the registration information
automatically to all computers running Zip-n-Send.
Zip-n-Send stores the registration information in Registry. So you can
create the registry export file and then use any method to start this file at
desktop computers to store the information, for example sending an SMS
job or adding a logon script command.

==========================================
Using Zip-n-Send
==========================================

To send selected files via e-mail as a compressed zip-file, select a group
of files or folders and right click the group to invoke a context menu. Then
open Zip-n-Send submenu and choose the most suitable archive name
suggested by Zip-n-Send automatically.
If you want
to hide the progress bar window you can click the Hide button and then
control the process using Zip-n-Send icon on Task Bar. You can set Zip-
n-Send options to hide the progress bar window automatically on start
working.
As a compression process completes Zip-n-Send automatically creates a
new mail message with just created archive file attached.
Note that you do not have to think where to create archives. Even more,
you do not have to think about removing archive files after they have been
sent. Zip-n-Send manages its own Temporary Archive Files folder and
automatically removes archive files that are no longer needed.
If you need to change Zip-n-Send settings right click any file or folder to
invoke a context menu. Then open Zip-n-Send submenu and choose
Options.

==========================================
Configuring Zip-n-Send options
==========================================

To configure Zip-n-Send options right click any file or folder to invoke a
context menu. Then open Zip-n-Send submenu and choose Options to
open Zip-n-Send Options window.

- Show Zip-n-Send icon on a context menu
  Select this check box to display Zip-n-Send icon on the context menu
  opened by right clicking a file of folder.
- Ask for a confirmation on Cancel job
  Select this check box if you want to be asked for a confirmation when you
  cancel an archive operation. If this option is not checked an operation will
  be cancel immediately.
- Hide progress dialog on Start job
  Select this check box to hide Zip-n-Send progress bar window
  automatically on start working.
- Perform compression with low priority
  Select this check box to decrease a priority of Zip-n-Send compression
  process. This will let you work with other applications more comfortable
  while Zip-n-Send creates an archive.
- Parent folder name
  Select this check box to include a parent folder name in the set of names
  automatically suggested by Zip-n-Send for an archive file.
- Most often appeared file name for selected items
  Select this check box to include the most often appeared file name in the
  set of names automatically suggested by Zip-n-Send for an archive file.
  Zip-n-Send will look through selected items to determine a name that is
  most often used for files in the current directory.
- Name of file being clicked to invoke a context menu
  Select this check box to include a name of file that has been right clicked
  in the set of names automatically suggested by Zip-n-Send for an archive
  file.
- User-defined file name
  Select this check box to include the custom template-based file name in
  the set of names automatically suggested by Zip-n-Send for an archive
  file. Note that you can use Insert Macro button to insert a set of
  placeholders in the template. Placeholders will be substituted
  automatically to compose a suggested name.
- Insert macro
  Click this to select a placeholder to insert in the template. For example,
  the name <REPORT 03-27-1999.ZIP> can be suggested for the template
  $NAME $MM-$DD-$YYYY if file REPORT.TXT was right clicked on
  03/27/99 to invoke Zip-n-Send context menu.
- File filters
  File name extensions of files that must not be added to archive files.
  Zip-n-Send will skip these files even if they are selected. Use semicolon (;)
  as a delimiter of three-characters file name extensions. For example:
  tmp;bak;swp;

Temporary archive files

- Folder location
  Zip-n-Send needs a special folder to create and store temporary archive
  files until they are sent. So you should specify a directory on the local
  hard drive to be used by Zip-n-Send as a Temporary Archive Files folder.
  You can click Browse to browse through folders on the hard drive.
- Folder shrinking
  To prevent temporary archive files folder from growing in size Zip-n-Send
  can automatically remove archive files that are already sent and no longer
  needed.
  If Remove archive files older than N days option is checked Zip-n-Send will
  automatically delete archive files after the specified number of days, thus
  shrinking Temporary Archive Files folder. Zip-n-Send will keep archive
  files in Temporary Archive Files folder during the specified number of
  days to be sure your mail system has sent them before removal. If you
  specify zero, Zip-n-Send will keep only one archive file which is created
  most recently.
  If this option is not checked you have to delete archive files manually as
  you no longer need them.
- Manual removing
  You can delete all the temporary archive files manually by clicking the
  Delete Files Now: button.

Mail clients

You can specify a mail client to be used by Zip-n-Send for composing
messages and attaching archive files. You can browse to select a mail
client you use to send messages in the list of Predefined mail clients
supported by Zip-n-Send. If you find your mail client as supported by
default, just select it - that is all you need to do.
If your mail client is not mentioned in the list, select User-defined mail
client. In this case you need to tell Zip-n-Send how to use your mail client
to compose a new message and attach an archive file to it. To do this,
you should specify the command line to be invoked by Zip-n-Send every
time it needs to compose a new message with an archive file attached.
Check your mail client documentation for command line options. Note that
you can click Insert Macro button to put an archive file name placeholder
(either for long or short MS-DOS name) on the command line.

==========================================
Setup parameters file
==========================================

Setup parameters file allows you to run the setup wizard unattended.
This file contains all parameters that should be entered by user when the
setup procedure runs interactively.
Setup parameters file looks like a plain *.INI file. It contains parameters
grouped in sections. Zip-n-Send setup procedure processes the setup
parameters as follows:
- Setup parameters file is searched for a section matching the name of
  computer being installed. If the matching section exists the setup
  procedure takes all the parameters from this section. If this section
  does not exist the setup procedure takes all the parameters from
  [Default Setup] section.
- If the setup procedure can not find a parameter in the section
  matching the computer name then it takes this parameter from
  [Default Setup] section.
- If a parameter exists but contains an empty string the setup procedure
  uses default value for this parameter.
The full syntax of the setup parameters file is described below.
