Note: this is a beta copy of PGNPack and a new version will be issued shortly.
Most likely, the packing algorithm will change such that future versions
will not recognize the packed format created by this Ver. 1 beta.

Running PGNPack should be straight-forward. To pack, the input will be
a collection of PGN games and the output, a .PPK archive.

To unpack, the input will be a .PPK file and the output a PGN file.

Normally, it is expected that PGNPack will be used in conjunction with
other archiving programs such as PKZIP. PGNPack compresses chess games
slightly better than PKZIP but, when the games are ALSO zipped, compression
ratios of up to 6:1 can be achieved. That's taking less space than any
other chess archives or database formats that I know of and is ideal
for EMail transmission of large files. PGNPack can handle a maximum of
4000 games per file.

The included ZIP file, Trial.ZIP, contains 62 doubly-packed games as a
sample.
