       SnipItz 1.0 - Play Just the Best Parts of
               Your Favorite Video Files!
       =========================================

Thank you for trying SnipItz! Please take a moment
to read this brief message.

-------------------------------------------------------
* INSTALLATION
-------------------------------------------------------

SnipItz consists of the following files:

   SnipItz.exe - the program
   ReadMe.txt - this file that you're reading
   File_Id.diz - used by BBS/Web administrators
   Mfc42.dll - a Microsoft DLL

To install the program, take the following steps:

   1). UnZip the SNIPITZ1.ZIP file to any directory
        you choose.

   2). You *may* have to download the latest version
        of the Microsoft "Windows Media Player" for
        your version of Windows. If SnipItz says it
        can't find that program, you can download it
        free of charge from the Microsoft Web site
        at this URL:

          www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.asp

        or from our web site at:

           www.DefinitiveSolutions.com/files/mpie4ful.exe

   3). Run the mpie4ful.exe program. This will
        install the Microsoft Windows Media Player,
        which is required by SnipItz.

-------------------------------------------------------
* NOTES
-------------------------------------------------------

As a 32-bit program, SnipItz can run on any 32-bit
Windows operating system (such as Windows 95,
Windows 98, and Windows NT 4).

The file named MFC42.DLL is version 6.00.8447.0, which
is required by SnipItz. Users who understand what is
called the "DLL versioning problem" can, if they are
comfortable doing so, replace the MFC42.DLL in their
%PATH% with this version (assuming it's a later
version, of course).

* HOW TO USE SNIPITZ
-------------------------------------------------------

SnipItz lets you create "Shows", which are collections
of "Clips", which are portions of movie files. All popular
movie file formats are supported, including AVI, MPG, MOV,
and QT.

"Shows" are stored in "*.SNP" files, so you can name, save,
and edit them just as you would any document in Windows.
There is no limit to the number of Shows you can create
with SnipItz.

"Clips" are added to a Show in one of two ways. First,
you can click the "Insert" button and choose the movie files
you want one at a time. Or, you can click the "Multi-Load"
button, and have SnipItz search your hard drive(s) for
movie files automatically.

Once you have some Clips in the Show, you can edit them by
either highlighting the Clip and clicking the "Edit"
button, or by just double-clicking on the Clip. The Edit
window that appears allows you to set the beginning and
ending points of this Clip, so that when you view the Show,
you see only the portion you want. (If you don't edit a
Clip, then the entire Clip plays.) Note that the edit
windows allows frame-by-frame positioning.

The "Shuffle" button randomly mixes up the Clips when you
click it. (It will stop by itself, but if it takes too
long, just click it again to stop it.) Note that the list
of Clips seems to change only every second or so, but in
reality only every 50th shuffle is actually displayed on
the screen.

If you have a specific order in mind for your Clips, you
can use the "Up" and "Down" pushbuttons to change the
position of the selected Clip.

When you're ready to watch the Show, click the "Play Show!"
button, and SnipItz will launch the Microsoft Windows
Media Player, which will then play the Show you've created!
