GRAFER(TM) Line Graphs and Scatter Plots, Trial Version 4.0, [ASP/ESC]

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

GRAFER(TM) Line Graphs for Windows, v4.0 [ASP/ESC], makes ANSI look-a-
like graphs suitable for scientific and engineering reports. The Line
Graphs and Scatter Plots are built from X-Y data entered from the
keyboard, a text file, or the Clipboard. The "Picture" Graphs can be
copied to the Clipboard and Pasted into other applications as an
adjustable graph. Saved graphs are in text file format and easily
edited. Printed graphs are adjustable in size. Learn to graph with the
samples included.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Grafer requires compatible PC computer with Windows 95/98/NT4/2000
installed and running. The current memory in your computer should be
adequate if you are able to use other Windows applications
satisfactorily. The hard disk space needed is less than 500KB.

GRAFER(TM) INSTALLATION

You will probably receive Grafer in one of two ways. In the first way,
you will have a floppy disk with all of the individual files listed
below:

      GRAFER.EXE - Grafer executable for Windows 95/98/NT4/2000
      GRAFER.HLP - Grafer Help for Windows 95/98/NT4/2000
ORDER.TXT - Purchase Order form for Users (Use Notepad)
README.TXT - Program Description and Install information
OVERVIEW.TXT - Overview of what Grafer does (Reviewers)

      GRAFER.CNT - Grafer Help contents
      MFCH12.DLL - Grafer helper library
GRAFTEST.GRF - A test graph as described in Help
ELECT.GRF - A graph of residential power consumption
PAD_FILE.HTM - Grafer information for Internet users
PAD_FILE.XML - Grafer Portable Application Description (PAD)
VENDINFO.DIZ - Vendor and Distributor information
      VENDOR.TXT - Distribution information
FILE_ID.DIZ - Short description of Grafer

INSTALL.EXE - Installation Program for Grafer

If you have a disk with all of the files above, use the instructions
given in the section below titled, "USING THE INSTALL PROGRAM".

The second way to receive Grafer is in a compressed file or archive. The
compressed file name should be GRAFER4.xxx where "xxx" indicates which
file compression utility was used. In this case, use the suggestions
given in the section titled, "INSTALL FROM A COMPRESSED FILE".

If you prefer to install Grafer manually, see the section titled,
"INSTALL MANUALLY" below.

USING THE INSTALL PROGRAM

To install Grafer, start up Windows and put the Grafer floppy disk in
Drive A. Follow the directions in the sections below:

From the Start menu select Run. Type "A:INSTALL" in the dialog box that
appears. After you press the ENTER key or click on the OK button, the
Install program will start on the floppy drive. If you are installing
from B drive, substitute the letter B for the letter A above.

The Install program will copy the Grafer files to a new folder titled
"Grafer" on your hard drive (C:). You will have an opportunity to revise
the folder name and installation location. Click on the OK button or
press the ENTER key to start the file transfer to the folder you
selected.

A menu item titled, "Grafer" will be added to the Start menu with
"shortcuts" to the first five files listed above.

INSTALL FROM A COMPRESSED FILE

If you received Grafer as a single file such as GRAFER4.ZIP, copy this
file to a temporary folder on your hard disk. Next, decompress the file
using a decompression utility program such as WinZip. Several other
compression/decompression utilities are in common use. You can probably
obtain the correct utility from the same place you obtained the Grafer
archive.

If the Grafer archive file name is GRAFER4.EXE, you decompress it by
running it from your temporary folder. Just double-click on the file
name in Explorer and the program will decompress. No other utilities are
needed.

Once the archive file is decompressed, you should have all of the files
listed above in your temporary folder. Now you can install Grafer as
described above in the section titled, "USING THE INSTALL PROGRAM".
Instead of typing "A:INSTALL" in the Run dialog box, you would type,
"C:\TMP\INSTALL", where C:\TMP is the current hard drive and temporary
folder where the files are located.

INSTALL MANUALLY

If you prefer to install Grafer manually, copy of the files listed above
to the folder of your choice. Next, create a Start menu item by adding a
folder called "Grafer" in Windows\Start Menu\Progams\ folder. Now, add
five "shortcuts" to the "Grafer" folder for the first five files you
copied to the folder of your choice above.

RUNNING GRAFER

Start Grafer by clicking on the Start menu and selecting the Programs
menu item. Now, select the Grafer menu and then select the Grafer Line
Graphs menu.

Selecting Exit from the File menu closes Grafer. You can also use the
Alt+F4 key combination to do the same thing.

UNINSTALL GRAFER

Using Explorer, delete the folder containing the Grafer files. First,
select the folder and then delete it by pressing the 'Delete' key.
Grafer places a file named, "grafer.ini" in the Windows folder of your
computer. You may also delete this file.

To remove the, "Grafer" item from the, Start menu, move to the,
Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ folder using Explorer. Expand the folder by
clicking on the "+". Now, click on the, Grafer folder and press the
delete key.

GRAFER DOCUMENTATION

All of the Grafer features are documented in Grafer Help and can be
accessed by selecting menu item Help and then Topics.

All of the menu items are fully documented in Grafer Help including the
Grafer example. Context sensitive help is available by highlighting a
menu item and pressing the F1 key.

To get started, click on the Help menu and then the Help Topics menu
item. Then, review the introductory items in the Getting Started
section:

SHAREWARE

Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
buying it. If you try Grafer and continue using it for over 30 days, you
are required to purchase it by registering. Any fees you paid to obtain
the Shareware version were copying and distribution fees and did not
cover the registration payment required for continued use of the
program.

Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should
find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's
commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs
easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is
low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back
guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.
