The slider on the top half of the left side of the interface screen allows you to change the size of the crop window. Keeping the slider in the white area will generally yield better results. The shaded area of the slider indicates when the selected area must be enlarged to fit the output window. Enlarging can reduce the output image quality.

To move a slider, position your mouse pointer over the slider pointer. Click and hold your left mouse button down as you drag the slider left or right. To adjust the slider in larger increments, you can click inside the slider bar to the left or right of the pointer, or you can use the Page Up/Page Down keys on the keyboard.

Once the desired crop window size is selected, the position of the crop window can be moved around the source image by holding the left mouse button down while the pointer is inside the crop window outline and dragging the window using the mouse. Releasing the mouse button will update the display on the output side with the new crop area.

There are two sliders at the bottom of the right side of the image editing screen that allow you to either smooth/sharpen or lighten/darken the output image. You can uncheck the auto update box if you do not want to have these operations performed every time a change is made to the image.

You can click the Options button to set JPEG options like Quality and Progressive, specify the file type for save/preview, and set the resize options.

Clicking the preview button will allow you to see your output image at full resolution. You can specify in the Preview Options whether the actual output image or an approximation is displayed.

You can change the resolution of the output image either by using the slider in the upper right corner of the interface screen or by clicking the options button and typing in values.

The Save/Preview file type on the Options screen is tied to the file type for the Save operation. If you change the file type in one place, it will automatically be changed in the other place.

In the Resize Options, if Scale is selected, when you type in a value for either Width or Height, the other value will automatically be calculated to maintain the aspect ratio of the original image. Select Crop, if you want to use an aspect ratio other than the original for the output image.

If the "Preview actual output image" box is checked under Preview Options, a temporary output file will be written and displayed using your local image viewing software. If this box is unchecked, an approximation of the output image will be displayed.
