designed to run on virtually any PC including mono displays and laptops.

randomly selected from the group of words you have created or loaded.

size and number of the words selected you may resize the puzzle square.

                    -------------------------------------

4) KEYBOARD (All Screens)

                 <F1> Help <ESC> Quit / Go Back

                         KEYBOARD (solve puzzle)

  KEYBOARD CURSOR CONTROL
When the program requires cursor control the Number Key Pad will auto-
matically be set to cursor control.
Numbers should be entered via the main keyboard.

  <F4> PRINTERS :
To provide compatibility the simplest form of output is used to print
the puzzle. However, this does not resolve all the problems. Notably,
owners of the Hewlett Packard Deskjet series may need to press the EJECT
or Form Feed button in order to eject the page after printing.

  <F5> SAVE PUZZLE AS TEXT
For those people who have word-processing or graphical software packages
then this option is provided to give you the control of how the puzzle
can be printed. Selecting this option will save the current puzzle as a
text file which may be loaded by your software. Some of the advanced
software can produce some very interesting results.

<F8> CHEAT (can't find that last word)
For the 'on screen' puzzle solver a 'CHEAT' mode will allow you to view
the puzzle without the additional characters entered by the computer. I
hasten to add that this was not introduced for personal reasons but to
   aid the younger wordsearcher.

                        KEYBOARD (words and file names)

USER INPUT : All unwanted characters such as ? * & are ignored on input.

   Accepted characters are File Names (A - Z) and (0 - 9)
                              Words (A - Z)

The Backspace key provides the delete character function.

  QUICK START :
Once the programme is running choose (load file) by pressing the No 1 key.
Press ENTER to load the first file on the menu.
Press ENTER again to create the puzzle.
Use the NUMBER PAD keys to move the flashing cursor to the start (or end)
of one of the words in the puzzle.
Move to the last letter in the word and press ENTER.
Repeat until all of the words have been found.

                   --------------------------------------

5) HINTS AND TIPS ETC.

  8086 / 286 SYSTEM USERS :
By default the words are shown as the puzzle is created. This is purely
to give users (and myself) something to watch. On slower machines it is
possible to ascertain the position of the words as the puzzle is generated.
Therefore some users may wish to choose option (4) from the second menu
   to disguise the display.

  PUZZLES :
If like myself you can not readily bring to mind 30 or more 12 charac-
ter words don't worry. Puzzles of this nature tend to be rather predic-
table and easier to solve. Words that have similar characters and that
vary in length are generally more pleasing. Remember also that by not
selecting the minimum size puzzle square that more crossovers, more
diagonals and more unrelated characters will be produced.

  BORDERING ON RIDICULOUS :
Although the program checks the limitations of the puzzle ridiculous
situations can still occur. If while the puzzle is being generated you
believe that you have a 'ridiculous' situation or that the computer is
taking too long then press the ESC key and either select a larger puzzle
size (if possible) or reduce the number of words selected.

  MAXIMUM NUMBER OF WORDS :
Although the absolute maximum is 60 words the program checks each added
or deleted word to calculate the limitations of the puzzle. Additional
words cannot be entered once this limit has been reached.

                        -----------------------------
