      wiring capablity with rubberbanding.

_____________________________General _______________________________

SchematiCAD is a special purpose drawing program that is used to draw electronic
schematics. It runs on both Windows 95 and Windows 3.1. It was developed specifically
to generate graphics for SJM Technologies' electronic analysis and synthesis programs.
The intuitive manner in which it allows one to construct a schematic from electronic "parts"
imported from a "Parts Bin Window" suggested that it had value as a stand-alone schematic
drawing program, and is thus being offered as such.

This demo version of SchematiCAD has the same features and functions as the
registered version with the exception of "File Save" and "Save as".

________________________ Minimum Requirements ______________________

 ____ Windows 3.1 or Windows 95
 ____ 4 Mb RAM (8 recommended)
____ 4 Mb free hard disk space
 ____ 486 33 or better processor
 ____ SVGA Monitor (1024 x 768 with Large Font)

_____________________________ Installation __________________________

The SchematiCAD installation program is SCHEMD04.EXE.

The SchematiCAD executable is SCHEMATD.EXE.

The SchematiCAD uninstall program is UNINSTALL.EXE.

SCHEMDO4.EXE is the SchematiCAD installation program. When you run the SCHEMD04 the
SCHEMATD executable and all of its graphics files will be installed in the
directory "C:\sjmtech" or an alternative directory that you designate during installation.

The installation program places a configuration file, "SCHEMAT.INI", in your system
directory. The executable, SCHEMATD.EXE, looks for this file in the C root directory
and the "C:\WINDOWS" directory. If it cannot find this "ini" file it will not be able to
find the various graphics and tutorial files it uses during the functioning of the program.
(It will boot, however). If your computer is part of a network configuration that precludes
accessing the "ini" file, simply make the directory in which SchematiCAD resides (usually
"C:\sjmtech") your current directory. The current directory can be changed to the
SchematiCAD directory through SchematiCAD's "File/Open" menu selection.

SchematiCAD should be run with your display resolution set to 1024 x 768 (SVGA) and
Large Font.

In the "Parts Bin" SchematiCAD provides representative parts in eleven categories that may
be used in the rapid drawing of a schematic. It also has selection of over 400 parts and
standard schematic symbols that may be accessed from a device list.

To achieve precision in the placement of parts and schematic segments, SchematiCAD
employs alternative techniques vis--vis the menu, toolbar, mouse and keyboard conventions
of a typical Windows drawing program. SchematiCAD is easy to learn, however, and context
sensitive help and an online tutorial are available

Although individual "Bin" parts may be selected with a single mouse click, SchematiCAD uses
a special "RectSelect-and-Click" technique that enables the user to select multiple parts or schematic
segments from the drawing surface as well as the Parts Bin. The new parts and segment figures
may then be placed and oriented within the schematic with greater precision. This figure placement
is aided with a "Snap-to-Grid" option.

SchematiCAD provides a limited color palette for the purpose of accentuating specific elements
or figures within a schematic. For the user's convenience, both the color palette and the tool box
may be closed or moved anywhere on the screen.

Parts and schematic segments may be copied, deleted, moved, rotated, flipped both vertically and
horizontally, and zoomed (>5000% possible) during schematic construction and parts editing.

Variable-pitch Arial text can be placed and edited anywhere on the schematic.

SchematiCAD allows the user to export either the entire schematic or portions of the schematic
to the Windows' Clipboard for incorporation into other documents. The export to other documents
may be accomplished either by bitmap or, for higher resolution, by metafile.

SchematiCAD has its own printing capability, and schematics may be printed with either a portrait
or landscape orientation.

SchematiCAD also provides a figure editing capability that allows the user to construct new parts
or modify existing parts to suit his or her specific needs. With the variable zoom feature, precise
"per-pixel" editing can be achieved. The Snap-to-Grid option is usually turned off during the
editing of the small features of a part figure. For the user's convenience, a red (off) / green (on)
Snap-to-Grid indicator is displayed at the top of the Tool Box.

A short tutorial under the Help menu is recommended prior to the first use of SchematiCAD.
Context sensitive help is available by pressing F1 at any time.
