Morse1 is designed to help
you learn and practice morse
code. If it has any other
effects (good or bad) on
anything else then I
accept no responsibility.

On a lighter note, Morse Code was developed by Samuel Morse many years ago.
Because it is such a simple code, it can be used in conditions where voice
could never get through, such as poor radio reception. It has the added
advantages that it can be used with light as well (long and short flashes),
it has a pleasant sound (I think so anyway), it doesn't require complicated
equipment to send it and it is a widely recognised standard.

What can you do with Morse Code?
================================

        Transfer messages. Anywhere you can send and/or recieve long and short flashes of light or beeps of sound or puffs of smoke or anything similar. E.g. Over a radio, phone line, classroom, over the road, almost anywhere.

        The emergency services (In the UK) have used morse code for urgent
messages for years, it has only been phased out this year. (A pity, in my
opinion, the 'better' digital methods are so much more complicated).

        Morse was the first trans-atlantic communication medium.

Whatever you want to use Morse code for, even if you want to learn it
just because, I hope Morse1 will come in helpful.

What is included in the ZIP?
============================

There are just 3 small files included in this archive, they are;

Morse1.exe - The main program
Start.bat - Use this to run the program (It loads character sets, etc.)
Readme.txt - This file.

What is the history of Morse1?
==============================
I found a program written years ago to aid learning morse code,
and I decided to try and make a similar program just as a
programming exercise. Recently I found that half finished program lurking
on my computer and decided to finish it off, add a couple more features,
tidy it up, and put it on the internet for people to find. (Hopefully
someone has). I have tried to clear it of problems, but there might still
be a couple (sorry). This is the first release.

Thank you for downloading Morse1.
Please send me some feedback: sfbayling@bigfoot.com
I would like to hear what novel uses you have put morse code (and/or this
program) to, and how it can be improved...

Troubleshooting
===============
Q. I get weird double-dots instead of single dots in the text but it sounds fine.
A. Are you running Morse1 under Windows 95/98 in a window (not fullscreen)? Try pressing ALT-ENTER to switch to fullscreen, that should fix it.
