                                AMDI
                                ~~~~
Introduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~
AMDI is an artificially semi-intelligent conversation program. That means
that you can now talk to your computer!

- Tell your computer exactly what you think of it.
- Ask advice from a purely logical 'mind'
- Escape from the constraints of sanity!

AMDI is NOT intended to be a scientific project to simulate intelligence.

Therefore, the responses given by AMDI are often twisted and always
meaningless. Forthwith, I dissolve any liability for actions or intentions
arising from responses given by the computer program to any party, or damage
and loss to your computer or equipment attacted.

AMDI is freeware, please distribute freely to all family and friends. When
distributing please pass on complete unaltered package. You may not remove
or add files to this package. AMDI and related literature is copyright Ian
Miller 1999. All rights reserved. There is no official technical support
for this program (you shouldn't need it), but if you have any problem, you
can try and E-mail me: <Ian@overmill.freeserve.co.uk>.

Minimum Requirements
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
486 DX 33
4 Mb RAM
500Kb free HDD
Win 3.1
AMDI installation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To Install the AMDI Zipped package, unzip all of the contents into one
directory/folder e.g. 'c:\amdi12'

Then set up shortcuts or icons to the AMDI12.EXE program.

Then run the program and start talking!

Using AMDI
~~~~~~~~~~
To use AMDI all you have to do is type your message into the top box on
your screen after starting up the program. When you press Enter, AMDI will
analyse your message and respond accordingly. Try to type clearly, including
punctuation where necessary, and use correct spelling and grammer.
AMDI's responses are sometimes very strange, This is because AMDI has only
been tested by a small number of people. I would appreciate it if you would
send me the Log files which AMDI creates in the current directory. I will
examine these and make AMDI respond with better accuracy. The log files will
be treated in the strictest of confidence. Only with your help can AMDI be
made more intelligent.
What does it stand for?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You won't believe me, but I've forgotten since I started the project. It was
something like artificial made-up dialogue interface, or arranged making
digital increment, or artificially manned dialogue intelligence. Tell me
if you can think of anything better.

Paying for AMDI
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AMDI is free, but I am a poor student :(, so :
If you would like a personalised version of AMDI (Your name at the top of
the screen, special responses, and free updates) You can purchase one for
only 5 sterling. This would make an excellent present for anyone obsessed
with AMDI.
If you are a company and would like to give away a corporate version of AMDI,
Just E-mail me and we can discuss rates according to volume.
This is just a thought, but in future version I'm thinking about accepting
sponsorship, that is, for each version, a company could pay for their name
and logo to be on every copy of AMDI downloaded from the net. E-mail me if
you're interested.
If you would like to know more about the above, or would like to send a poor
student a donation, E-mail me: <Ian@overmill.freeserve.co.uk>
One final Note
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've put a lot of time into AMDI, so please try and have some fun with it!

The latest version of AMDI, and further information about it, can always be
found at <http://www.overmill.freeserve.co.uk/>, This is the only official
place to download AMDI for free.

Many thanks for reading through all that lot,
Ian Miller	(Author of AMDI)
