Welcome to the WFTPD Pro 3.0, the latest version of WFTPD Pro.

If you want to use the automated installation script, and you are
running Windows NT 4.0 (Server or Workstation), then please run
the program "SETUP.EXE". If you received the self-extracting
installation program "WFTPDPRO.EXE", simply running that will
also run the setup program. If you are using Windows NT 3.51,
or want to install manually, please read on.

This file contains manual installation instructions, in case you
have problems with the automated installation, or are running Windows
NT 3.51. Note that, if you received this program on a floppy, its
contents are compressed - you can use the "EXPAND.EXE" program to
uncompress the files ending in '_'. WFTPD.EX_ becomes WFTPD.EXE,
WFTPD.HL_ becomes WFTPD.HLP, INI2REG.EX_ becomes INI2REG.EXE, and
WFTPD.CP_ becomes WFTPD.CPL. The syntax to do this is:
expand -r *.??_

Installation
============

Uninstall previous version
--------------------------
First, make sure you stop and remove any current WFTPD Pro version, if
you have one already installed:
1. Stop the WFTPD Pro service, either from the WFTPD Pro Control Panel
Applet, or from the Services Control Panel Applet, or by typing:
   NET STOP "WFTPD PRO"
at a command prompt, or in the "Start|Run" command box.
2. Remove WFTPD Pro from the services list - find the copy of WFTPD.EXE
that holds WFTPD Pro, and run "WFTPD -remove". It will then tell you
that the service has been successfully removed, and invites you to
remove the executable file also. You'll need to be an administrative
user to do this (or have whatever rights are required to remove/add a
   service)

Next, you may want to delete (or backup) all trace of older versions - the
files to work on are WFTPD.EXE, WFTPD.CPL, WFTPD.CNT and WFTPD.HLP. The
first of these will be wherever you installed WFTPD Pro to, and the last
three should be in your Windows NT SYSTEM32 subdirectory (note that this
version still doesn't run under Windows 95).

Now, copy the new version from this zip file into place - WFTPD.EXE, again,
goes wherever you want it, and the WFTPD.{CPL,CNT,HLP} files _must_ go into
the SYSTEM32 subdirectory of your Windows NT installation. Once again, you
need to be an administrative user (or have sufficient rights to add a
service) to install the WFTPD Pro service, which you do by running
"WFTPD -install" once you have placed WFTPD.EXE in its final directory. It
should pop up a dialog box confirming its correct installation. The
INI2REG.EXE file is optional, and should only be used to convert a WFTPD.INI
file (used by WFTPD) to registry entries that can be used by WFTPD Pro.
Both INI2REG.EXE and its associated help file, INI2REG.HLP, are generally
installed with WFTPD.EXE. Also placed here are the various text files,
so that you can read them at your leisure.

The final step, of course, is to bring the Control Panel back up (you did
close it when you tried to delete and/or replace WFTPD.CPL, didn't you?),
and alter the Startup values for the WFTPD Pro service through the Services
applet, and start running and configuring WFTPD Pro.
