AIM Adjuster by PK1Soft
Version 1.5 BETA
http://pk1.cjb.net
This program is released under the GPL all source is included (although poorly written)
For more info about GPL goto http://www.fsf.org
VisualBasic 6 Runtime files are required.

This program will remove ads and the search panel from AOL Instant Messenger.
Although it is not required, use AIMAdConfig to modify settings. This should allow
AIMAd to work with many more versions of AIM without making it look bad. Only time
will tell.

NOTES:
The removal of the slack does not work for all people. Also, the default settings
in AIMAd Config need to be on or AIMAd won't work correctly or the results will be
only temporary. The Window Placement options are the ones that will have the greatest
impact on the look of the window and allow future and past versions to work the best.
Most of the setting descriptions are misleading but more or less correct. Play around
them or look at the source to find out exactly how they work. Please use the webboard
at http://pk1.cjb.net to post questions/bugs/comments. This way it prevents me having
to say things over and over again:]

Usage
	1.	Extract aimad.exe and AIMAdCfg.exe to your AOL Instant Messenger directory
or another directory (use AIMAd Config to change directory)
	2.	Change shortcuts that point to aim.exe to aimad.exe if you have autoload on.
		(on by default)
	3.	Run the modified shortcuts and it should load AIMAd and adjust it.
	4.	You can run aimad.exe before or after running AOL Instant Messenger.
	5.	To uninstall remove the files and registry settings from
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\AIM Adjuster
and return shortcuts to their previous states. Modifying your registry
can be dangerous, so watch out if you are unexperienced (it is not necessary
that you remove the registry settings)

Tip
If you have a slower computer try increasing the first two values in the config editor if
you are having problems with the adjusting happening in time. If you have a faster one try
decreasing them to improve performance. You may need to turn off "Automatically size AOL
Instant Messenger based on previous size" option in Windows 98! Also, the bottom in Windows
	98 is still not removed.

Version History
1.50B	-- New config program to allow more modifications.
1.03	-- Now resizes window better in newer versions of the AOL Instant Messenger betas.
1.02	-- Will now resize vertically without expanding to maximum height.
-- If anyone is able to capture WM_RESIZE commands from the aim window
using windows api please let me know. I would like to keep the tabgroup
from resizing when you resize the window.
-- Clipping is done more efficiently. I am seeing mixed results in clipping in
in Windows 9x. However, it seems to work fine in Windows NT.
1.01	-- Hopefully now removes bottom half under windows 9x.
-- This has not been completely tested. Your results may vary.
	1.00	-- First released version.
-- Now removes all blank spaces.
		-- Other improvements.
	.02	-- First Beta

I am not responsible for any damages of any kind that occur from the use of this program.
That said, it is highly unlikely that this program causes any problems. Everything it does
*should* be temporary. As far as I know this program does not break any rules or laws, of AOL
because it was not made by modifying the executable or using a dissassembler. I have seen other
methods of removing ads that aren't as affective as this one. (and are somewhat more edgy as far
complying with the AOL rules). If you want an AIM program that doesn't have ads natively check
an operating system that has a clone that doesn't have ads or use another 3rd party client that
does not. I personally suggest trying BeOS.

Please report all bugs to the webboard.
