                       Using Navscan

=======================================================================
*NOTE: If you suspect or know you a virus then perform the following
steps after a full power off and then boot the system to an uninfected
write protected system boot disk. If you are running Windows 95 please
read the Win95Nav.txt file after completeing step three.

To use the Norton AntiVirus External Definitions Scanner:

  1. Make a directory called NAVSCAN.

  2. Copy NAVSCAN.EXE into the new NAVSCAN directory.

  3. Type NAVSCANZ.EXE. This will extract the files needed to run
Norton Virus Scanner including the main program file NAVSCAN.EXE.

  4. Run NAVSCAN.EXE and scan your system.

If NAVSCAN finds a virus in memory...

you must restart your computer using an uninfected,
write-protected bootable floppy disk and run
	      NAVSCAN again.

If your hard drive isn't visible after you restart...

you must run Navscan from a floppy disk after booting to
your computer using an uninfected, write-protected bootable
floppy disk . From the prompt type "NAVSCAN C:" to repair
	      the infected drive.

If NAVSCAN finds only a file virus....

delete and replace the file with an uninfected copy.
