These programs CIHSCAN and CIHCLEAN are DOS based and will scan and clean the deadly CIH virus which just formats the hard disks on 26th of a month or more precisely on April 26th. CIH virus will also wipe away the Flash BIOS that comes with the Pentium II and later motherboards (including Celerons) rendering the motherboard useless and need to be replaced. This CIH virus infects the Windows 32 bit PE files only and only the EXE files seems to be affected. Once it infects the system it spreads to all the executed files one by one as they are executed. The trick of the virus is that it does not increase the file size of the infected files. It stays within the sections of the PE files where there is slack space. So it goes unnoticed by size detection of the viral presence. Remove all the startup & resident programs in memory of Windows 95/98/NT/2000 by removing the programs of the registry if you know it & boot it clean. Otherwise get a clean boot DOS floppy and boot the system from it. Then run these programs to scan and clean this virus. If you run the program with the virus in memory then it may result in spreading of the virus to the programs being scanned. Try to stay with pure DOS to clean this virus, not in a DOS box in Windows.
The clean mechanism that I have provided is so very clean that it offers resistence from further infection. This technique is advanced in that the files that had been cleaned will never get this virus again in them (unless purposely injected). This way these programs offer eternal removal of the virus from the system.
Happy CIH virus removal!

Tip: IF YOU HAVE VIRUS IN MEMORY THEN SPREAD IT TO ALL THE FILES BY RUNNING THE SCANNER FROM WITHIN WINDOWS AND THEN FROM A CLEAN DOS ENVIRONMENT CLEAN THE VIRUS, THUS MAKING THE FILES IMMUNE FROM FURTHER ATTACKS JUST LIKE VACCINATION

Usage:
CIHSCAN <Path> <filespec> [filespec]

eg:
C:\WINDOWS> CIHSCAN . *.exe
will scan all the exe files in the current directory and the subdirectories.

eg2:
C:\WINDOWS> CIHSCAN \ *.exe
will scan all the files from root entering all the sub-directories.

eg3:
C:\WINDOWS> CIHSCAN \ CALC.EXE MPLAYER.EXE
will scan only those files mentioned in the command line directories.

CIHCLEAN is same as this and it removes the virus and makes files immune from this virus in the future.
