Q. What is QNC?
A. Well, if you haven't figured that out yet...hehe, you're screwed. :)

Q. I still don't know what QNC is...please, what is it?
A. Ok, ok. QNC, or Quake Name Convertor is a nifty little prog that lets
you enter a name you want, and it converts it to a Quake Name.

Q. Whoa! QNC is cool! But what is a Quake Name?
A. A Quake Name is just a regular ol' name that is used in Quake...numbskull!

Q. Ok, if Quake Names are just 'regular' then why do I need QNC?
A. Hehe, Quake Names aren't regular...not the good ones. Ya see MOST Quake
names use alot of ASCII characters. And you don't want to remember all
of those characters do you? Heck no! Who cares if '' is 424? I sure
don't!! That's where QNC steps in..it knows em all for ya! And it can
make the neat-o Gold Quake Names, and even the Graphic ones with the
   rockets and cool metal pieces!!

Q. QNC works in SINGLE player mode, but when I get on a Quake server, my
name turns into garbage! So does QNC only work in SINGLE player mode?
A. Nope. QNC works in MULTIPLAYER mode, too. Most, if not all, Quake
Servers don't like the 'illegal' characters that are in most Quake
names, so when you start a new level or get pinged, your name usually
   changes to 'accepted' characters.

Q. Ok....so how do I fix that?
A. As far as I know, you can't, but you can bind your Quake name to a key
   like so:

TYPE ~ at any time during a game.
   At the console menu TYPE:

   BIND Q "EXEC NAME.SCR"

You can substitute the 'Q' for whatever letter you want, but make sure
it is a key that isn't used alot....like 'Q'. NAME.SCR is just an
example. Use this for whatever you saved your quake name as.

Q. I found a cool ICON in the QNC zip file. How do I add it to the desktop?
A. Well, first off, make a shortcut on your desktop (Win95). Do this by
right clicking on an empty space on the desktop...choose 'New' then
'Shortcut'. At the prompt, type the full path to where QNC is located.
Once QNC is on your desktop, right click on the icon and select
'Properties'. Select the heading 'Program' and you will see in the
lower right hand corner 'Change Icon'. Click there and type:

   C:\Qnc\Qnc.ico

Or whatever directory that this file is held in. Wa la! A cool icon
   for a cool program. ;)

Q. QNC blinks and flickers in Windows 95.
A. -Right click on QNC.EXE (or shortcut) and click Properties
-Click the subtitle Program and choose MAXIMIZED under RUN
-Click the subtitle Screen and choose Full-Screen under USAGE
   -Apply the changes

OR just run it from the DOS prompt.
