SPACE HULK Quake, By the Wonder Cousins

Read WH40Q.TXT first if you've got no idea of what Warhammer 40K or Space
  Hulk are.

This is more a project than a reality, in fact, it's more an idea than a
project. The reason of this file is describing this idea to you, so that if
you like what you read, you can mail us saying it. I know this is not the
normal way to make quake mods, but the thing is: this total conversion is
planned to play quake in a very different fashion from normal quake, and we
don't want to waste our time in something that won't get support, specially
when there's so much to make with the warhammer 40K mod. So, if after reading
how it will work, you want to see it made, mail us. If we see there is enough
interest, we will follow working on it as soon as we've finished the first
part of the WH40Quake, which will be the episode involving Genestealer Broods.

   	And here it is:

Sure you all know what the Fortress multiplayer mod for quake is, don't
you? (if you don't, it's high time you downloaded it, cause it really kicks
ass), well, in a way, the SHQuake would look like it, with players belonging
to different classes of marines in Terminator armor, with several assortments
of weaponry and psychic powers. Also, it would be an only-COOP-oriented mod,
players being members of a Terminator Squad.

It's not that different from normal quake so far, is it?...well, the main
difference is: there would be an almost infinite number of creatures per level.
This means that the missions would've to be played not slowly, cleaning every
room you pass by before continuing on to the next, but quickly, trying to
accomplish your mission objectives suffering as few casualties as possible.
This would be done more or less like in Doom2's nightmare difficulty level,
with creatures respawning every so and so. The difference with doom is that
levels would start almost empty, and then monsters would start to pour from
some points defined as entry areas in the map, and whenever they died, instead
of being a respawning, each map would have a maximun number of monsters, so
that when this number was reached, there would be no more spawning until a
monster died. Apart from this, creatures would always start in hunt mode,
knowing exactly your position, and using whatever means they had to get to you.
As you see, this is a BIG difference between normal quake and SHQuake, and
most of you will think it sucks, but if you don't, if you are eager to engange
the Stealers in close combat, then don Terminator Armor, intone the Litanies
that will purify your soul, ready your Storm Bolter, mail us saying it, and
may the blessings of the Emperor be upon you.

There would now be a briefing sequence, like the intermission, prior to
every mission, describing it's objectives, and maybe displaying a
not-much-accurate map of the level saying where is what. Missions would be
won when different things happenned, depending on the level, maybe you must
take a vital piece of equipment lost in the Hulk back to your own ship, or
kill a definite number of Stealers in a given time loosing no Marines in the
process, or activate four hidden computer terminals to make the lift to the
next level opperative, the list goes on...

Maps would always be released in episodes of four to eight missions, maybe
more if we see that it takes too many brushes in a map for QBSP to compile it.
I say this because I have seen with the first maps in the WH40Q mod that
making a map full of small rooms connected by ill-lit passages requires lots
of brushes to make them big enough for a multiplayer COOP game, but well,
time will say.

Just we want everyone to play it just like a new game. It's taking a lot
of hard work, and we don't want to do it for nothing. You can play it just
like other mods but it wasn't thinked this way because it will be boring. You
may play it in deathmatch, we've working on giving each player a Terminator
Armor at start, because if not the player who finds it would probably win.

This is all I can think of right now, I know I'm leaving something, but...
well, who cares, the idea is up there, so if you want to see this come true,
then contact us at any of this two addresses:

Oh, and sorry for my English, I hope I have explained my-self well enough
for all of your brains to understand almost every one of my sentences. If this
is not the case, then mail us to say it to me (just kidding, don't even think
of sending me a mail just to tell me I need to better my grammar, or you will
have made an enemy for your whole life (do you remember Inyigo Montoya's
famous words in the Promised Princess?...well, you will)).
