Description of the Modification
-------------------------------
I have always liked the Doom shotguns more than Quake's --
not only in damage, but also that you could kill several former
humans or imps standing behind each other.  That was because
in Doom, traces ignored dead things (entities in Doom) even
if the thing was solid.  In Quake, traces are (usually)
absorbed by anything solid.  This means that while it is
possible to explode someone, you cannot kill enemies behind
the target shot, which limits the usefulness of the shotgun
somewhat.

This mod modifies the shotguns so that it acts like Doom's
in every aspect:  5-15 damage per pellet, number of pellets
and the spread, rate of fire, and most importantly the dead
body piercing capabilities of the pellets.


How to Install the Modification
-------------------------------
* Create a subdirectory called SHOTGUN within the QUAKE directory.

* Place the the progs.dat from this archive into the SHOTGUN
  subdirectory.

   QUAKE

     +--- SHOTGUN (progs.dat goes here)

* Change to the QUAKE directory and type the following (without
  the quotes) on the command line:  'Quake -game shotgun'.

OR:

* Replace the original weapons.qc with the one included
  in this archive, then compile a new progs.dat.
