                          The Axe of Love (v1.0)

This is a new, (probably) final version of my old Axe of Command. A lot of
things were changed, so I renamed it to Axe of Love.

Old Features:

- Hit a monster with your axe; it will start loving you and attacking others.

Improvements over the Axe of Command:

- Monsters who love you are now solid; with the axe of command, you could
  walk through them.
- monster walking code is better; when they can't reach you directly they
  follow walls, just like normal monsters who attack you.
- Monsters who love you now have a peaceful balloon over their heads.
- When you hit a monster twice with the axe, it will create what is known
  as an "affection overload"; it loves you too much, and this love turns to
  hatred. It also causes a psionic energy flux which hurts you. This pain is
  proportional to the health of the loved monster. So don't try this on a
  healthy shambler; it hurts.

known bugs:

- Sometimes, the monster type is not registered correctly, so you get the
  message "pet monster attacking..." instead of "pet Grunt attacking...".
- In GlQuake, the peace balloon is not purple but black, and the texture is
  slightly distorted. Why? I don't know.


I would like to make a powerup of this in deathmatch; with this powerup, you
would be able to hit an opponent, who would then fight alongside you (as a
reaper bot or so), while the opponent dies and respawns (or keeps looking;
would also be cool, except in 2-player games... undecided about this yet).
However, I don't have the time to make a bot. So, bot-creators: Contact me
about this!


To use : Create a subdir called "axe_love" in your Quake dir and copy this
pak0.pak into it. Then start Quake with "quake -game axe_love".
