THE AGE OF ELEMENTALS
=====================

For years, the servants of light have co-existed, if not peacefully, with the
servents of darkness. A delicate balance of good and evil, creation and
destruction, positive and negative has been maintained. This tao, this
balance of yin and yang, has persisted for as long as the eldest can
remember.

Then came the time of change. A strange entity appeared on the land, a
glowing ball of lava. Many feared its presence. Many tales surfaced of the
changes wrought by the mere presence of this item. It became known as the
Catalyst of Change. As an icon of change, it appears to constantly change
its location. Many are skeptical of its existence, but the scholars insist
that not only is the Catalyst of Change real, but it has healing powers as
well!

Soon after this Catalyst of Change entered the once balanced land, more
rumours began to propogate. Tales were told of strange runes that served as
keys to unlock the very forces of nature. Powerful beings, it was said,
roamed the land, avatars of power that had hidden gills and were made of
stone. Some could fly through the air and all could blend in perfectly with
the land, becoming invisible to all but the best trained eyes.

The fate of the land is clear. These forces of nature have all but destroyed
the delicate tao. The servants of light and darkness battle again, this time
not to maintain the order of the universe, but to overthrow it. They are
driven by some false hope that these forces of nature can turn the tides of
fate and subdue the other side for eternity. Only the wisest of the wisest
know that this cannot be. One side must ultimately gain the key to the
universe and escape into another dimension where the tao can once again be
maintained.
