  /=================/
 /=1. Introduction=/
/=================/

Quake-O-Matic is a launch program for ID's Quake 1 and 2. Its main propose is to
make those many MODs, TCs, PCs, Addons, Patches or what ever you call them easy to
implend. It can also install maps and there are some switches to customize your game.
And it supports QuakeWorld skins and Quake 2 models and skins with preview.
Quake-O-Matic also supports the use of more then one Quake-configuration
(autoexec.cfg, config.cfg and all the cfgs and stuff you use in your configuration)

And, by the way, its the coolest looking Quake 1&2 launcher on our planet!

The first version of QPM was a DOS program which I wrote to make it more easy to
start a Quake 1 game with a MOD (PainKeep rulez!) and maybe some maps. Since all those
lame newbies at my school are not allowed to access the command line, there had to be
a prog like mine.
Then Quake 2 showed up, and with it, an increasing number of MODs. That was a good
reason for me to grab a windows based programming language, learn it, and write a new,
cooler version of my Quake-O-Matic.

  /=================/
 /=2. Installation=/
/=================/

Oh man! Thats a big part. Complicated. Peuhh!

   2.1. The Program Files=/
/========================/

Ok, thats the easy part. Just copy all the files of the ZIP in a directory of your
choise. Thats it! No fancy install prog!

NOTE on 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4:
	I made a program, which does this for you!
	Read paqbot.txt!

   2.2. Patches=/
/==============/

	Zip all your MODs and create a TXT with a description and a PCX, BMP or JPG
        screenshot. The Zip files have to be in a special form,	for example: You
	have compressed your EraserBots to "ERASER.ZIP". If you then launch this file,
	it should create a directory called "eraser" with its files in it.
	(Is this hard to understand?? Mail me!)

   2.3. Maps=/
/===========/

Pretty similar to the MODs.

	Pack em with ZIP. If you unzip a map-ZIP, it must create a directory
	"BASEQ2" (or "ID1" for Quake 1) and in there a DIRECTORY "MAPS" and finally in
	there the map (BSP) file. [\BASEQ2\MAPS\YOURMAP.BSP] or [\ID1\MAPS\YOURMAP.BSP]

   2.4. Skins=/
/============/

For Quake 1:
	DO NOT COMPRESS THEM!!
	Just put all of them in one directory.
	If they are packed, they wont work.

For Quake 2:

Also similar to the MODs.

ZIP em. 1 model, one ZIP. When you unzip one, it should start by creatind the "BASEQ2"
directory and carry on with "PLAYERS" and then the models directory with its files.

   2.5. CFGs=/
/===========/

Quake-O-Matic supports the use of more then one Quake-configuration. (autoexec.cfg,
config.cfg and all the cfgs and stuff you use in your configuration)
Create a new directory "CFGS" (example). In this directory create another directory
for every config you want to have. After that, put all the files of the configuration
in the corresponding directory (for normal this is a config.cfg and a atutoexec.cfg
in every subdirectory)

Example:
	CFGS
	  + WP    		(dir)
 	      + autoexec.cfg	(file)
 	      + config.cfg	(file)
 	      + aniname.cfg	(file)
	  + PeteSmth	 	(dir)
 	      + autoexec.cfg	(file)
 	      + config.cfg	(file)
	  + J-Romeo	 	(dir)
 	      + autoexec.cfg	(file)
 	      + config.cfg	(file)
	  + OJ	 		(dir)
 	      + autoexec.cfg	(file)
 	      + config.cfg	(file)
	      + bloodykn.ife	(file)
	  + JayLeno	 	(dir)
 	      + autoexec.cfg	(file)
 	      + config.cfg	(file)
	      + OJ-Jokes.srl	(file)

(same procedure for Quake 1 & 2)

   2.6. Setting up the Prog=/
/==========================/

My prog needs to know where all the Files are, you just created.
Just start it with "WPM.EXE". A Dialog will pop up. Click the S and the setup will
appear. There you should change all the informations which are wrong. Then exit QPM by
pressing the fat X in the lower right or the normal exit procedure. Thats it.
Now its ready to use.
If it crashes, give it another chance. Push Ctrl-Alt-Del ONCE to kill QOM, if its still
running. Then just launch it again. You can also try to delete the INI.

You can choose a different background for Quake-O-Matic. I have included 2 (QMatic.jpg
and QMatic2.jpg), but it is quite easy to create your own ones. If you have made a cool
one, mail it to me, so I can post it on the website.
You can choose any BMP or JPG as a background, but it looks pretty crappy if you use a
image that hase not been made for Quake-O-Matic.

HINT: Convert all the JPGs to BMP to speed up loading!

  /==========/
 /=3. Usage=/
/==========/

Start it up by launching WPM.EXE!

Most of the progam should be self explaning. Click the tabs at the buttom to switch
between the pages, change or choose what ever you want, then click the Quake 1 or
the Quake 2 logo to launch Quake 1 or 2.

-= Quake 1 MOD =-
-===============-
Simple: Select the one you want to use and the descripton and perhaps a screenshot will
be displayed.

-= Quake 1 Maps =-
-================-
EZ too: 3 listboxes - available, choosen and installed maps.
Move the maps you want to use from available to choosen or back via drag-n-drop or
with the to arrows. The installed listbox shows you the maps which are installed. You
can delete them using the button.

-= Quake 1 Skins =-
-=================-
This section is only available if you use QuakeWorld. The mechanism is similar to the
map selection, drag-n-drop or arrows.
When you (try to) choose a map, it starts searching for maps. It lists all installed
maps, choosen maps and even looks in all available PAKs. The PAK-file scanning is
only done once. After that, there is a index file for every PAK.
I used SmartPAK by Ivan Beltiukov (ibelt@uni.udm.ru).

-= Quake 1 Stuff =-
-=================-
Just switches....
And the place where you selectand edit your config.

-= Quake 2 MOD =-
-===============-
See Quake 1 MOD

-= Quake 2 Maps =-
-================-
Same as Quake 1 Maps (but there is no Quake2World)

-= Quake 2 Skins =-
-=================-
Here you can install models and skins.
Same as Quake 1 Skins, but with installed section and Model Preview.
For previewing the model I use Trey Harrison's (trey@crack.com) MD2-Viewer.

-= Quake 2 Stuff =-
-=================-
Whats do U think?

-= Terminator =-
-==============-
The Terminator is a prog that waits for Quake to finish, then asks you, of you want
to delete all the files, Quake-O-Matic has extracted (such as maps, mods, skins etc.).
You kann choose between removing all new files (no garantee) or you kann look at a
list of new files and maybe take some of the list.

-= Previewing/Screenshots =-
-==========================-
If you click on every preview image it will zoom to fullscreen.
For the Quake 2 Model Preview I have implented and included Trey Harrison's MD2-Viewer
(trey@crack.com). Read it's docs, especially if it doesnt work!
Rename the DLL in the MD2VIEW directory to GLIDE.DLL if you dont have a 3D-card.

-= Stuff =-
-=========-
If Quake-O-Matic reports some stupid error, just close it, delete the wpm.ini and start
it again.
