Date                    : 10/26/98
Filename                : ssmap1.bsp
Author                  : Tim Hurley
Email Address           : timofh@hotmail.com

Description : This is a total conversion of level 1 (SSMap 1) of Dwango5, the
			  killer 24-lev deathmatch wad for Doom2. If you haven't heard of
			  it, give it a try anyways.

Additional Credits to : Creator of BSP, writers of gddqbsp3, gddqvis3, gddqrad3, whoever
			  made the original map for Doom2, creater of Eraser Bot (sorry for the lack of names, but I don't have the original texts...)

* Play Information *

Single Player           : Yes
Co-op			: No
Deathmatch : Yes, I put in 10 spawn points, but you could probably cram some
			  more in...
Capture the Flag	: No
Difficulty Settings     : No
Demos Replaced : I included a demo of me going at it with 4 Eraser Bots. Good for
			  a coronary or two. (note- the demo was made with quake2 version
			  3.19. It will may not work with earlier versions...)
* Construction *

Base : well, based on the doom2 version, but I made it from scratch
Editor(s) used          : BSP v.93b
Known Bugs : Some pink squares in the walls of the room the single player start
			  is in due to the texture difference I suppose. Hardly noticable
			  though.
Build Time : Probably 4-5 weeks, as this is my first map for Quake2, and I had
			  to learn BSP and Quake2 editing as I went...

Textures used : all the textures from the original doom2 level, and some from e1u1
			  of Quake2, cause I didn't feel like changing all the ones facing
			  the void... :P

Compile machine : PII 350 with 128Mb RAM
QBSP3 Time              : 4 sec
QVIS3 Time 	        : 12 sec  (-level 4)
QRAD3 Time     	        : 63 sec  (-extra -bounce 40)
Brushes                 : 379
Entities                : 99
Models                  : none

*How to use this level*

Extract the map (ssmap1.bsp) into your "quake2\baseq2\maps" directory.
Extract the demo (ssmap1.dm2) into your "quake2\baseq2\demos" directory.
Make a directory in your "quake2\baseq2\textures" directory called "ssmap1"
Extract the zipped texture file (sstextur.zip) into the "quake2\baseq2\textures\ssmap1"
 directory you just created.
Extract the contents of "sstextur.zip" into the "quake2\baseq2\textures\ssmap1" directory,
 (a bunch of *.wals)
Run Quake2, go to the console (hit ~), and to play the map, type "map ssmap1". To watch
 the demo, type "demomap ssmap1.dm2" in the console.
-=Note=- You MUST unzip the textures from "sstextur.zip" to play the map. Otherwise you
 will be set up to play checkers...

(I gave such detailed instructions because I was new at the whole map thing once too...
 ("quake2 -file ssmap1.bsp doesn't work...?"))

* Other Info *
This is pretty much my tribute to Doom2 deathmatch, and some of the great levels that were
made for the cause. I will of course be making my own levels as well, but I also plan to
remake a few more of the top deathmatch levels for Doom2. Any suggestions or hints or
comments or flames can be sent to timofh@hotmail.com. Also check my site:
www.nwlink.com/~hurl
although it is undergoing major changes...
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, as this is my first level for Quake2. If you have
any tips or hints for a budding young designer, please feel free to share.
