Here are the contents of my Quake animated cursor package.

The Quake "Q" symbol, in gold.  All of these use the bottom
tip of the spike as the hot spot:

Q3D-arrow.ani   This one stays still most of the time, with
                an occasional spin to keep it interesting.
Q3D-wait.ani    Continuously spinning.
Q3D-ask.ani     Continuously spinning, with a question mark
                inside the "Q".
Q3D-no.ani      Continuously spinning, with a red 
                circle-with-a-slash inside the "Q".
Q3D-load.ani    A projectile zooms in on the "Q" and blows it
                into little bloody gibs, then the "Q"
                rematerializes.  My favorite.  8-)

The usual resizing arrows and beams, all made out of the gold
spike from the above "Q" symbol.  Self-explanatory:
