The Catalyst
A Quake movie

Reuploaded 8/24 (I think the first time I had a bad upload)

Here is my first Quake movie that I have released. I really hope you like
it. It was really a fun experience, and with tools like Remaic. It developed
into a respectiable movie. Have fun, and please give me you comments.

How was it filmed. Well I took my ageing 486 33, and made a parallel connection
thru the printer ports. Set up a IPX network thru windows 95. Then recorded the
demo in Quake. I took the demo cut out the parts I knew I didn't need, then used
remaic to put in time quotes in the middle of the screen with the "remaic /t"
command. Watched the times and thought of good camera angles to put it in, wrote
down the times I would use them. And fed my ideas into remaic. After doing
cuts in Film at 11, and in Keygrip I did final editing. Then I used remaic and
Keygrip to put in the sounds with the "grubby hack", stufftext "play x". I then
recorded my friends playing the various characters and that was it.

This movie is not complete. I am doing it in sections like the Insanity movie.
I hope to have a scene 2, and a climax scene 3. Done by October. I will release
them seperatly. Please send comments :) and if you are a person interested in
being a voice actor, or a quake actor (the one that moves around and stuff) I
would love to hear from you. Or if you have any other abilities you would like
to offer.

Thanks.

P.S. After watching the movie you the screen will be totally white, youll still
be able to hear the ambience sounds, but the screen will be completely white.
To exit just try to exit using the Quake menu. Just listen for the sounds.
Sorry about this glitch, if anyone knows how to fix this please tell me.

Installiation:
Put the Pak0.pak file into a directory under Quake (e.g. C:\game\quake\catalyst)
then run Quake with the game paramater "Quake -game catalyst" and the movie will
automatically launch in 800x600 resolution. If you computer can't handle this
just change your resolution suitable to play the demo, and then into the console
type "playdemo part1".
