What is Game Guru?
------------------

What!? You don't know what Game Guru is? Well, it's a front end for Doom and Duke type games. What's front end you say. Well a front end is a program that makes running other programs easier. With Game Guru you can select all your options you want with a few easy clicks and push Run. Simple as that.

--------------------
Setting up Game Guru
--------------------

Setting up Game Guru is a snap. First unzip Game Guru (you can unzip it anywhere, but it would be best to unzip it into its own directory). Run Game Guru, and select the Setup tab. Then select the Game you want. Locate the EXE file you want for a game name you selected. Once you found that, push the Save Current Game button. Do this for all the games you have.

NOTE: If you get an error such as File not Found or File not Registered, you should download VBRUN500.ZIP and install it.

INI SETTINGS - You must open the GameGuru.ini to set the INI SETTINGS. All other settings can be set in Game Guru, although you can set the other options in the ini from here as well.
	EXE - This sets what appears in the EXE drop down box. You can add commonly used exe of Doom Source Mods here
		The format is as follows:
			[exe]
			1=c:\doom2\boom.exe
			2=c:\doom2\doom3.exe
			3=c:\doom2\zdoom.exe
		..and so on. Make sure you include the full path to the exe and number them in order starting at 1.

DEATHMATCH DATABASE DIRECTORY
Select the options tab, find the directory you want to save the Deathmatch Database file (guru.ddb)

DEFAULT LEVEL DIRECTORY
Game Guru has a feature to save the location of your levels, this can be different for every game. All you have to do is select a game, go to the level directory of that game and right click on the directory box. A pop up message will say "Make Default Level Directory", click it. That's it. NOTE: If you did not select a game, you will not get a pop up message.

DEFAULT GAME
Saves the current game as the default game. This game will be automaticly selected when you load up.

CLEAR SETTINGS
This is for users that have used Game Guru 2.0 to 3.0 that had settings saved in the registry. Click this to clear all the settings.

SAVE DEFAULT.RES
This saves a response file with the current settings you are using. You can use these settings later by double clicking on a response file (see RESPONSE FILES below)

---------------
Troubleshooting
---------------
FILE NOT FOUND (when loading)
If you get this error before Game Guru even starts up you need to download VBRUN500.ZIP (http://VBHome.Simplenet.com/VisualBasic/VBRUN/VBRUN500.ZIP), unzip it, and install the files. This should fix it.

FILE NOT FOUND (while selecting a game)
This means the game you tried to select is no longer in the position you set it up for. You must open gameguru.ini in a text editor and delete the section your game is. For example if the game is Doom then delete the line that has [Doom] amd everything under it until the next game in brackets.

FILE NOT FOUND (while any other time)
This is most likely because you did not select a game first. If that does not help, please e-mail me at mrfunkymonk@geocities.com
