A little about these .wads and there creation:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I started this all around when I first acquired DOOM. Back then,
my friend gave me an editor and I was hit with an instant craze to design my
own levels. But what should I make? After tinkering with a Predator level and
an incomplete Link to the Past level (it was nearly finished, but there was
so much detail, I had to Dshrink it to have enough memory. I ran out again,
and was unable to finish it.)
Naturally, Star Wars popped into mind. Seeing that I was already
geared up for a forest type landscape, I decided to recreate Endor. The river
and a highly modified bridge were actually the start of it, taken from my
abandoned Predator level (still have an excellent opening title screen I
created for it, in case anyone's interested.)
After weeks of arduous, time consuming work, and only creating part
of one building, I started to get bored. Then, I got access to the net, and
discovered dozens of extensive levels and textures already created. With my
idea of creating the perfect Star Wars universe dashed, I finally gave up.
A year plus later, after the rerelease and multiple novels, I began
again. I decided that I would add to the already good conversions and
incorporate them into my own levels.
After completing the Endor level, I discovered that there was still
quite a few characters that I didn't have a place for. The Snow Troopers just
had to go somewhere and I decided then, after having run out of available
sprites, that I would have to convert it all to DOOM2 format and begin
creation of a Hoth level, the perfect contrast.
Having finished, and again becoming bored from not being able to
create more, I realized that there were still some more creatures left out.
Tatooine first popped into mind for a new level, but the idea was just as
quickly dashed, as I foresaw the cumbersome task. Besides, Vader deserved to
go in first, and I could make a small, quick level, just for him.
A few weeks later, I finished that "small, quick level" and decided
that besides missing Boba, the game seemed inconclusive. The Throne room at
the end of Star Wars seemed the best ending, although distorting the
chronology a bit.
Finally, I decided that I'd whip out a Tatooine level, just to
satiate myself... and I finally have.

So where did I get the ideas for all the ideas for all this stuff?
Okay, here goes, in order of creation:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Endor: Level 7

-The tree fort spawned from the Kenner one I had owned.

-The bridge in Endor came from a Dark Forces design, and from the already
 created Predator level.

-The building in the center represents the "back door" to the shield generator.
Memory and a couple of replays of RoTJ helped with the design. Notice the
stormy perfectly set to go hurtling over the railing when shot, the hotwired
door and the STs that surround you when you pick up the blue key.

-The other building is based on what the shield generator structure must have
looked vaguely like. The hangar bay houses the smaller AT-STs while the
extra platforms serve to dock with the AT-ATs, like in the movie. The clear
glass area was supposed to resemble the place Luke and DV stood while Luke
tried to convince his father to turn back to the Light side.

Hoth: Level 5

-Main level layout came from the movies. The extensive tunnels and falling
ceiling are some of the things from it. The outer area with the shield
generator, (tried to make it set off some hidden barrels when shot, but DOOM
wouldn't allow it) control room, etc.
-Bacta tank area came from picture in SW Screen Entertainment, X-wing and a
picture in my Star Wars CD booklet.
-Both docking areas (front one and Millenium Falcon one) are based on the one
in the movies. The MF one, is also partially based on a combination of scenes
Rebel Assault 1 and 2. Mainly, the stairway and adjacent, overhanging
 platform.

Note: Ion cannons were intended to be put in from of main door, but I couldn't
find a picture of them, except in my SW CD booklet (perfect one, but I
don't have a scanner) If anyone has one I can edit, PLEASE send it to me.
      * Nevermind, it's in the latest release, as I finally bought a scanner.

Throne Room: Level 8

I basically made this level to put Vader in, but thought of a bunch of
things to add later.

-Layout is based on pictures and trailers from the movie. Stairway, Elevator,
windows, etc. I originally intended to put in 2 of the Emperor's Royal Guards
to the right and left of the elevator, but decided it would be too hard.

Grand Hall: Level 9

-Based on the X-Wing ending scene and a lithograph in my SW CD booklet, I
planned to make this as accurate as possible (aside from Boba ruining the
 party.)

Tatooine: Level 5

-Solely from my remembrance of the movies, there's the canyon where Artoo got
lost, the Dune Sea (those are dunes, BTW), the Mos Eisley Cantina and Docking
 Bay 94.

-The Jawa in the crevice is from the scene in the movies when you first see
 them.

-The Sand Person? at the top of the narrow walkway is supposed to be the one
that bashes Luke over the head.

-The two Sand People who first spot Luke.

-The alleyway where the ST pops out of and there's that new robot buzzing
 around him in the rerelease.

-The Cantina, based on the screen saver, with Han's place off to the right and
a stage for the Jizz band, the Modal Nodes, along with the bar with an
Arch-Vile in place of the bartender, Wuher.

-Docking Bay 94 and its accompanying ST presence.

-The open air market-like place where that white, insect-like robot went by
and Luke was complaining about not getting a fair deal for his landspeeder.

What about the creation? Where did you get all those cool textures, objects
and sounds?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Dark Troopers, Jawas (I had to convert them to SS men though), Sand
People, Snow Troopers and Gamorrean guards came from the .wad STWARGFX. The
IG-88s, ST Lieutenants and Speeder bike scouts came from the .wad SW2. Boba
Fett and Vader came from patches someone made, and I installed and extracted
to .wad format while the STs came from something else entirely. The Emperor
I took a few snapshots of him from TIE Fighter, then modified it so he would
have an attack, pain, and two death animations. The lightning is, of course,
from scratch. His death sequences are how I thought the Star Wars "DOOM2"
conversion of him dying, should be (and would have been if Star Wars had been
made in the '90s).

The speeder bikes were a snapshot from an animated .gif that I modified as
were the snow speeders. The 2 versions of the Millenium Falcon both were
taken from Xwing vs TIE Fighter as were the TIE Ints. The Tiderium shuttle
was a still photograph I cleaned up and modified. The ferns in Endor level
came from a snapshot/edit of a frame from the TESB-RoTJ movie trailer as did
Leia's hat (was actually from a close up of her on the bike, resized). The
shield generator came from a cleaned up picture it was in. The dais in the
throne room came from a picture cut out of them. Artoo was taken from the one
already in SWGFX8, which I modified to give him leg struts. The ion cannons
are from an edited, scanned, lithograph in the Star Wars audio CD booklet.

Guns. The pistol is a slightly modified version of an existing one. The
shotgun, rocket launcher and plasma gun came from SWGFX8. The chaingun was
converted from a shotgun. Lightsaber came from a separate .wad and a
somewhat better version than the SWGFX8 one. Lasers were altered from
green to a more appropriate red.

Textures came from various sources as well. The bark texture in Endor was
another snapshot/edit of a speeder biker .avi that I heavily modified so it
would convert better to DOOM's pallete. The Emperor on his throne was as
well, again modified to eliminate overlapping garbage (I decided one of the
cutscenes from TIE Fighter gave a cleaner image and have replaced the old
one). The starry background came from SWGFX8, while the Imperial type windows
came from a highly edited version of a bitmap found in one of XvT's directories.
The viewport like windows came from a snapshot/edit from SWSE. The lights in
the throne roomcame from a scanned photo from an ancient, read-along storybook
I found in my closet and the red-lighted door was from scratch. Both wall
textures in the Hoth level were from a highly modified picture cut out from
the TESB-RoTJ trailer. The mountains and glacial wall textures came from a
scanned photo someone had of his home town area. The glass windows in the
various levels were my creation, based on ones I'd seen previously. The
transparent videoscreens in the Hoth level were the result of serious editing
of already modified textures from the SWGFX8 .wad. The floor texture in Endor
and the one in the Tatooine level are simply color modified flats of existing
ones in DOOM. The sky texture was a cleaned up version of the one found in the
Trinity college .wad. All other changes in levels 5-9 are simply edits of
normal DOOM textures.

Sounds are too numerous to mention, most were not my creation. I combined
the best from about 5 different main .wads, plus sounds from a bunch of
other small ones. The player, high-pitched death sound, a stormy site sound,
Arch Vile death sound and the AT-ST walking were all recorded from Jedi.
Although few are of my own creation, mainly because sound quality was too
poor, the extensive amount of sorting required made it a difficult task.

Have fun with it all, and may the Dark Side be with you!
