Twice Risen: Official Team meeting
October 4, 1998
Official meeting minutes

Members present:
<Risen> : Mike Niggel
[impax] : Joe Crain
[dave1] : David Dall

The meeting began at 15:05 with Mike, Joe and Dave.

---

Mike started the meeting with a big announcement which he had preserved until this meeting
began. He announced that Twice Risen had the opportunity to use Lee Killough's modified
BOOM source as a base to build from. This would allow all of BOOM's features to be used
immediately. Friendly AI and bouncing objects are two immediate positives, plus the code
is claimed to be less bug-ridden that TNT's original.

Knowing DosDOOM and BOOM's limitations, a decision was made that this port was indeed the
best way to proceed.

[impax] sounds good, Boom is what I was hoping for, any thing added to that is just
		excellent
[dave1] yah def. boom is cool I like the interface 2

Mike added that there are a few restrictions on using the code, however.

<Risen> We just can't use the "press-release" features, like the beta BFG and beta
		graphics.

<Risen> Oh yah - we have 2 release after he does. I don't think it's a big deal,
		either.
[dave1] that makes sense

Dave inquired about other features added to the code, which would have to be done manually
such as skins. Mike brought up the fact that most of the restricted features would not
be a problem, and it was agreed upon.

<Risen> Well, I think that maybe the beta BFG would be cool as a secret weapon, but
the rest of the stuff is fine with me.
[impax] me 2
[dave1] same here
[impax] i wouldnt even miss it

Finally, all three decided that this port really is the best path for Twice Risen. The lack
of members present (especially Ross Eliott) made the vote unofficial, but definitely will
have a great effect on the final decision.

[impax] well, im decided, I think thats the best path...
[dave1] same here, boom is the way 2 go
<Risen> Yeah --- Joel says go with Lee, so that's one other...

Ross Elliott and Nick Baker must voice an opinion before a final decision is made.
Joe brought up the fact that he has experience in C, and would be willing to help out
if we needed it. Joel Murdoch, though having knowledge of C, would not be available to
code.

[impax] btw Mike, I'm experienced in C, and if it's fairly minor things,
		I can code them
<Risen> Well, Joel said he can't help code, bu maybe you'd like 2?
[impax] just saying, if you want some extra help...I can do it

Mike asked about the building of the routine for firing the laser weapons, and Joe believed
it could be done. He further inquired about viewing the code.

<Risen> Well, maybe you can help build the laser routine...
[impax] its possible...are we going to be able to have a look at Lee's code soon?
<Risen> As soon as I tell him that's what we've decided on... I don't have it yet.

---

Greater attendance would have been appreciated by all. It seems we do have a direction,
now, and definite coding can begin. Hopefully some new features will be available to us
soon - once this decision has been finalized, and then Twice Risen-specific feature will
come along soon after. Thanks for your help, everyone - and let's do this thing!
