Game and version used: DOOM II v. 1.9
Substitutions? MAP06 for MAP08 (see Comments)
System used: 486DX/2 66Mhz with Hercules Dynamite VLB, sb16 compatible
sound card with stereo digital sound + headphones (so I know
        where sounds come from)
Controls used: keyboard + Logitech trackball with keyboard redefined:
        a : speed on
        e : forward
        d : backward
s : move left (strafing left, I use trackball for direction)
        f : move right (strafing)
          all other keys same
        middle mouse button: strafe
        right mouse button : forward
Expansion levels: MAP08 (hard as hell) and 18 (medium, only in comparison
                                                to the original base)
Free interpretation: MAP06, REGULAR weapons (not tyson), fast monsters.

Comments:
MAP01: Piece of cake as should be. I did it with Chainsaw, and this is the
only one of my LMPs (other than free) that I don't wait around corners
  forever.
MAP05: Due to a shortage of health, you gotta be careful. There's enough
bullets to kill chaingunners, shotgunners, and pistolers with + enough
to kill Knight and maybe a caco or two, again, if your careful. This
means killing 8-9 imps and an invisible in the red passages to the blue
orb with regular fists (otherwise you use bullets needed later).
With the beserk pack, you can finish it. Since it takes about 20 minutes
to do (otherwise you die), and since I was Ultra-careful (didn't want to
re-record this one just 'cause I was stupid near the end), this has to rate
as 2nd boring lmp in this set after MAP08.
MAP06: Let me warn you first, I'm a cynic. This one is nearly impossible.
For 2 reasons: approx. 180 bullets (including first 50), and no chainsaw/
beserk pack. I looked at the FAQ after trying it a few times and got some
stats. From their charts, I determined that you need approx 1163 bullets
to kill all the monsters with bullets alone and no missing shots. Subtract
300 for the Spiderdemon (due to it's convenient crushing ceiling), and that
leaves 863 bullets. Say you use bullets to kill the 4 revenants and one
of the knights (leaving 10 rounds to spare). This leaves 713 bullets worth
of baddies to kill with regular fists, no chainsaw, and no beserk.
Fortunately you have only 1, maybe 2 knights left, the rest chaingunners,
imps, shotgunners, 2 pistolers, and a bunch of pinkie types. Oh, did I
mention that you'll never find them alone? Especially the group that
appear after getting the Yellow key? Anyway I substituted this one
  for MAP08.
MAP08: The most boring lmp you'll ever see. Bring a book when you watch this
one. I feel for anyone who gets this one as one of their three (although
the other 25 or so non-base ones are worse). To put a long story short,
you gotta have a lot of luck, and do things in the right way, since
this one can only be completed via monster-monster kills. The standard
procedure with this level (normally) is to deal with each group individually
Do that in this one and you can watch that bullet supply go bye bye.
Taking on any of the groups yourself will only get you killed. The strategy
I found to work best is to kill the baron/caco in the long hallway, get
the chainsaw, kill the cyber, and all but about 3 or 4 barons. Then go
chainsaw the pinkie room (if something follows you in, use the herding
effect of doing circles around them, with speed ON or they'll catch up, and
the non-pinkie will get chomped as soon as it hits one of them). After the
pinkie room, you have an arena to kill most of the rest, so go ahead and
open the baron room, imp room (with a chainsaw buzz to wake everyone up),
and the caco room (also wake them up), and go to the pinkie room.
Then get the monsters to kill each other. Finish off the last caco or baron
with pistol. Then kill the pinkies by the BFG. And the shotgunners. Then
use the invuln by the Baron/Cyber room (you did remember to not use it?) and
use it and the key to get the second one, ignore the barons/imps for now
(they can't follow you into the octagon door room), go cut up the cacos
by the Pain Elemental room, then use the central teleport to get on the
ledge. Release the Pain Elementals, park yourself with the chainsaw running
in the teleporter. The Flaming Heads can't get to you because they teleport
away. The ones that don't get chopped. When the pain elementals are dead,
kill the barons with the pistol, and end it. Took me about 50 tries. On
about try 30, I killed everything (I thought), and hit the switch and got
a 99% kills. For a whole minute, I felt what it was like to actually be
  a pain elemental.
MAP18: Another fun one. This one's got a bit more exitement to it. Beeline
to the center area (courtyard), activate EVERY trigger, and let them kill
each other. Then survive the periphery stuff. Oh, and save an invuln
and about 200 rounds for the Cacos in the blue key room. I pressed
the wrong button (not "q") at the tally screen to end, so there's about
a second of level 19 (on most computers it'll quit before this). I felt
that re-recording this level to omit that extra second or so was not worth
  the time.
FREE: (MAP06) After doing these levels till they started appearing
in my dreams (nightmares), and oozing out of my pores, I felt it was
time to tackle the dreaded MAP06. ENOUGH I said, to those tyrannical
Tyson restrictions. I'm gonna do this with REAL weapons, with ME doing
the killin'! So I did. With fast monsters to add a bit of spice. This
is a free interpretation after all, so I can do what I WANT. Dammit!
GENERAL: You thought Doom I tyson was bad? Doom II is a whole different
ballgame. I'd say this Tyson title ranks up there with Doom I Lightning,
maybe even higher, since Lightning only requires one episode, and episodes
2 and 3 are easier than this title (trust me).
Author info: Theatre major at Lewis and Clark College (when I'm not playing
doom). I hobby in computers, and models.
