Other Notes:
Hi, well obviously I had stopped working on Lemmings Doom. However today and yesterday I put together the wads of what I had done so far and made Lemmings Doom 0.9
Maybe a few people might get a couple minutes of enjoyment from playing the wads or someone might find them useful.

The wads are nowhere near what they would have been like if I had ever finished Lemmings Doom. Only about half the monsters and sounds are changed. And there are no new levels and textures.

So what would the fully completed Lemmings Doom have been like? Well to start off the Lemmings Doom single player story would have been based mainly on Lemmings 2: The 12 Tribes of Lemmings Island. Most of the 12 lemmings tribes' minds have been enslaved by a mysterious being, and any other innocent lemmings are imprisoned by the evil ones. As the last remaining uncaptured, innocent lemming you must rescue the imprisoned ones and stop the enslaved lemmings who are out to capture you. You must travel through the 12 tribe's territories of the island and at the end of each tribe (usually 2 levels per tribe) you will collect a piece of the talisman. After travelling through all the tribes, you will have 12 pieces of talisman thus completing it. You will need the completed talisman to defeat the evil being, who you will meet at the end of the game in the form of an end boss. The talisman when assembled will probably be some kind of powerful magic weapon, taking the place of the BFG. Once you have defeated the end boss, his control of the lemmings' minds will be broken, thus restoring peace and happiness to the tribes.

The levels would be very different to the normal Doom levels, with most of the levels being outdoors, with cliffs, green grass, trees, blue sky, water, streams etc. The levels would also feature puzzles like in the original lemmings games. You would need skills - eg climbing, digging, bashing, floating, etc to solve these puzzles. To gain a skill you would need to pick it up like in Lemmings 3. The skills would take the place of the keys in Doom 2. You would then activate it through the use button at the correct spot.

An example of the mechanics of getting the skills to work might be if you are faced with a large cliff that you need to climb. The cliff would actually be an extremely steep staircase. You would be prevented from climbing it though by an invisible door in front of the cliff. The door needs a key to unlock it - ie the climbing skill. Once you use the key/climbing skill on the door it will be removed and you can go past it and climb the cliff. Similarly, the bashing skill could be achieved, by using doors in walls that open and give the appearance of bashing a hole in the wall. For digging, elevators in the floor could be used in a similar way. Floating could be achieved through an invisible elevator which gives the impression of slowly floating down a cliff. If you try to jump off the cliff without the floater skill, there could be acid at the bottom or something which kills you, to give the impression of you dying from falling too great a height. The bridge skill when used, would most likely use platforms that rise up to create a bridge which you can then cross over. The other skills would be achieved in similar ways. There would also be traps incorporated like in the original Lemmings games.

The captured lemmings would be imprisoned throughout the levels in a kind of fenced off pen. To free them you would need to kill the guards and open the pen to let them out. After this those lemmings would then follow you around until the end of the level. They would even help you fight the evil lemmings, as they would be armed with picks to bash them. The end of level screen would show number/percentage of lemmings saved like in the original Lemmings games.

Of course all the music would be changed to Lemmings midis. All the sounds would be changed to lemmings sounds and voices. All the original Doom 2 enemies would be changed into different types of lemmings, such as floater/flying lemmings, basher lemmings, lemmings who hit you with picks, lemmings with guns, etc. I would like to replace most of the weapons too with weapons seen in Lemmings 2. You would have a pick, bow and arrow, flame thrower, mortar, maybe exploder lemmings, etc.

Although all these things will never be completed now, people might enjoy playing around with what I did manage to finish which is why I'm releasing the unfinished single player wads. Also I'm very happy with the way the Lemmings Deathmatch wads turned out in the end and with the fact that I played my favourite deathmatch sessions ever while running these wads.
