Extra Info About The Maps:

MAP01: "Oddly Familiar"
Author: dashlet
Music: Sunlust MAP15 (Midi made by Ribbiks)
Images used as inspiration: The famous Terminal 4 Holiday Inn Express, a flooded subway and various hotel/hallways images.

Info: This is the first map i created for Doom II! This map went through a lot of changes, for example: The revenant/hellknight fight originally was a secret optional fight for getting a mega armor and supercharge.
Other changes include the SSG area not existing at all and the "outside area" not being accesible.
At some point i thought of scrapping the map all together and start it again from zero, but in the end i was happy with the end result after some changes.

MAP02: "Am I Dreaming?"
Author: Lhyntel and dashlet (mostly Lhyntel)
Music: Duke Nukem 3D - Plasma
Images used as inspiration: Jared Pike's "Dream Pools"

Info:

dashlet: I love the dream pools, such an abstract and surreal concept, endless posibilities of layouts, rooms and maps!
Most of it was handled by Lhyntel but i did help him by providing tips, detailing some rooms, implementing difficulties and creating the blue skull key area.
From the get go i wanted to do a swarm of cacodemons coming out of a gigant dark room.

Lhyntel: The whole map was a challenge for me as it was not only my first map, but also using the idea of the dream pools was something very interesting and I must say that I'm very happy with the result.
Obviously as it was my first map I recieved some general tips by dashlet and they paid off very well.

MAP03: "Nostalgia"
Author: dashlet
Music: Grove by B.P.R.D (From Grove.wad)
Images used as inspiration: Most of it was made from places of my own memories or imagination, but some areas are influenced by liminal space images of kid party rooms and colurful places.

Info: This is a very special map for me but not beacuse i considered it a masterpiece or a great level. This map its based of my own memories of different type of kids party rooms and other places where i been as a child.
Nowadays i cant remember these places very well, they are very old memories from the past (I dont even know if some of these memories are fake or just dreams).
The thing its that when i think of these places, they make me feel really weird, uncomfortable but nostalgic, like when looking at liminal space images.
This map its a recreation of that feeling, most of the rooms are what i want to illustrate as a surreal/liminal version of happy places of my childhood that are now distorded forever inside my mind, like if they were all just dreams.

MAP04: "Last Day Of School"
Author: Lhyntel
Music: Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time - Forest Temple
Images used as inspiration: Various school liminal space images (like the one with the exit sign), my own (and dashlet's) highschool and one library image that fitted perfectly with what I had in mind.

Info: Suddenly I got ambitious ideas with the second map I decided to do for this WAD, not only I tried to use most of the tools that i learnt but also tried to make different layouts and played a lot with shadows in order
to make it feel like i was using a lot of textures. One thing to mention is that I tried to make the map as realistic as i could but learnt in the process that is not very easy with the tools given by the Doom Builder, so
I had fun experimenting with a lot of things. dashlet once again helped me in some decisions and enemy placement as they are not my cup of tea.

MAP05: "Lost In The Mall"
Author: dashlet
Music: Wormwood III MAP01 (Midi made by Ribbiks)
Images used as inspiration: That one toys r us image, the neon palm mall and various dead malls pictures.

Info: This is the last map i made for the mapset and i think overall plays better than the others i made but its not my favorite from the set.
Before starting this map i was already making the scrapped neighborhood map and working on other projects, it took me a long time before even knowing what to do
with what i already had draw inside the canvas, but in a matter of seconds after starting detailing the first room i came up with the idea of the switches "turning on the lights" inside a big room with demons already attacking you.
I wanted the player to move quite a lot more and explore some bigger spaces after all the cramped hallways i made in previous maps.
Since the automap completly ruins the silence teleport trick, i decided to remove every linedef from it with the excuse that you were supposed to be "lost". Thats why when you finally pick up the automap the message "are you lost?" appears.
