 INTRODUCTION:

 This is the FAQ that follows up the many other weapon FAQs out there. The
 incredibly in depth BFG FAQ, the unexpected pistol and fist FAQs(which are
 pretty good), the hilarious Rocket Launcher FAQ, and the help-
 ful shotgun FAQ. Well, it seems someone forgot about my favorite weapon, the
 Plasma Rifle! Well, I figured that this is the weapon least likely to need
 a FAQ since it's basicly aim, and fire, but I figured, 'why not?' So, with-
 out further delay, I give you the Plasma Rifle FAQ!(now somebody do the Chain-
 gun FAQ and we're all set)

Section I:

Introduction to the Plasma Rifle.

The Plasma Rifle is (to quote the Ultimate Doom manual) a weapon that shoots
'multiple rounds of plasma energy-frying some demon butt!'. The Plasma Rifle
is, arguably, the most powerful weapon you have. Sure the BFG and Super Shotgun
are powerful and pack a bigger punch, but boy are those buggers slow! The Plasma
Rifle is quick and dosen't have the annoying delay the SS Gun and BFG have.
It is also probably the best weapon to use in DM.

To use the Plasma Rifle simply press 6. If it dosen't work after a few
tries you probably don't have one in your possesion. Go find one! Or you can
always type IDKFA to get it. The Plasma Rifle uses cells(worth 40)and bulk
cells(worth 100). The maximum ammo it can hold is 300(600 with a backpack).
The purpose of this FAQ is to basicly help you figure out the Plasma Rifle,
how to use it better, and hopefully have some fun.
=============================================================================
Section II:

How powerful is the Plasma Rifle?

The Plasma Rifle rattles off plasma like nobody's business. I would estimate
about ten bullets a second. Each bullet uses one unit of plasma, so therefore
if you have 600 ammo for Plasma, then you can fire 600 bullets(that's enough
to kill a Cyberdemon!). However, a single bullet does minimal damage. Traveling
at a speed of 25(the rockets travel at 20, BFG blasts at 25)doing damage of 5.
Don't know what damage of 5 is? Well a Cacodemon fireball(at Hurt Me Pleanty)
does damage of 5, while an imp fireball does damage of 3. Of course, a
single rocket has an effect of 20, and the BFG does(with a direct hit)100. So
there.
=============================================================================
Section III:

Which enemies should I use it against?

Well, a single bullet can get rid of the pesky Zombie Men and Sergents.
Depending on how direct it is, you can also kill an imp with one bullet.
Anything bigger then that your gonna have to use rapid fire(hold down
the fire button). The demo demonstraits(sorry about the spelling BTW)how
to kill many of the bad guys except the two you never want to use the Plasma
Rifle on, the Cyberdemon and the Spider Mastermind(also, I left out the
Mancubus, Reverant and Arch-Vile). It even shows how to easily take out
hordes of demons and the problem that often occurs when you're surrounded
by imps(literaly).

The demo also illustrates that minimum aiming is needed. In the very
beginning you'll notice that I kill two Cacodemons while only strafing
Also, at the end of the level I do little aiming on the Barrons.
=============================================================================
Section IV:

Where is the Plasma Rifle located?

Sweet merciful crap! It's all over the place man!! Of the top of my head in
solo and coop play it first shows up in level 6, the Crusher, right under the
crusher(where all those Knights are). Other then that, well, you gotta find it
yourself. It's not in secret areas too often, but it isn't exaclty easy to get
either, so keep your eyes open!
=============================================================================
Section V:

Why isn't it called the 'Plasma Gun'?

I don't know. It just dosen't have the same ring as Plasma Rifle, don't you
think? Plasma Rifle also sounds more militaristic, which is what id was
probably going for since you're in the marines. Hey, they don't call the
bazooka a rocket gun, do they?
=============================================================================
Section VI:

How can I use the Plasma Rifle in Death Match?

Okay, here are the basics for Death Match in small 'Level 7ish' Death Match
levels.

1) Get the Plasma Rifle

2) Find the enemy

3) FIRE!!! And keep firing until they're dead.

Basicly you just want to openly fire the Plasma Rifle until you run out of
ammo. Of course you gotta aim at the enemy too, don't just run around in
circles blindly firing. A good steady stream for a few seconds usually
does it.
=============================================================================
Section VII:

If I have a BFG and a Plasma Rifle, which one should I use?

I personally go with the Plasma Rifle for three reasons. One, it dosen't
use as much ammo as the BFG so if you miss your target you won't be out of
plasma and be stuck with the chainsaw. Secondly, using the BFG against
sergents, zombie men, imps and even demons is really a waste. It does
damage of 100, and can take out up to 45 imps in one shot. I would only use
it on large groups of baddies or the bosses. Thirdly the BFG has that annoying
delay which wakes up monsters not looking at you. If you use the Plasma
Rifle you can fire a continious stream of plasma and prevent Cacodemons and
Pain Elementals for firing at you. It also prevents Lost Souls from
advancing on you.
=============================================================================
Section VIV:

What's with this demo an wad?

Well the demo shows you the many uses of the Plasma Rifle, such as
how to get rid of loads of Demons, loads of Lost Souls, or the problem of being
surrounded by imps. It also shows how it dosen't waste any time killing bad dudes
(unlike the BFG). To run in simply type 'plasma' in your Doom 2 directory.
The batch file will then run the demo. After the demo is done(or you quit
it)the batch file will run the level for you to play...then it will end.
