16 Bit Textures Opengl32.dll For GL Quake and Quake World
http://www.ve3d.net/3Fingers/

INSTRUCTIONS:
Copy this opengl32.dll to the Quake folder overwriting the old 8 bit opengl32.dll
and enjoy richer, more vivid colors.

The included 16 bit opengl32.dll was converted to 16 bit using a program by Matthias Buecher called
16-bit Texture Enabler For 3Dfx's Win32 Quake OpenGL Miniport. Below is the readme from that file.

2. Why it was created:
----------------------
Since v0.94 GLQuake uses 3Dfx's GL-Extension for 8-bit textures if available.
Unfortunately there's no switch to use 16-Bit textures, although you have
this mega-computer with your Voodoo2-SLI-combo. Hence you still have a
degenerated image quality, because of the greater quantization errors in all
the passes with 8-bit textures than 16-bit textures.

OGL16BIT can rename the 8-bit texture extension in 3Dfx's OpenGL Miniport
for Quake, so GLQuake can not find it and is forced to use 16-bit textures.
It does not really fix the problem within the Quake executables, it is more
like a workaround

3. Who should use it
--------------------
Everybody who wish to see improved image quality in GLQuake under Win32
with his Voodoo 3D accelerator and can afford the needed performance
(or take the performance loss :).

4. How to use BSPTxRen
----------------------
Unpack all files into your Quake folder (e.g. "C:\QUAKE")

Warning!!!
Make a backup copy of your original OpenGL Miniport before running this patch.
This patch is intended for 3Dfx's Win32 Quake OpenGL Miniport *ONLY*, it may
also work with other Miniports if necessary.
And *NEVER* use it on the GLQUAKE executable!!!

Now run OGL16BIT with "opengl32.dll" as the only parameter and it will
patch your OpenGL Miniport.

5. Note for Unix users
----------------------
As I do not use an Unix I don't know if this patch is needed, can be compiled
or work under Unix.
