                                 ANGEL DEVOID
                            CREATIVE LABS PnP PATCH

IMPORTANT: This patch will cause a lock at the beginning of the second disk.
To address this problem, a saved game is included in this archive.
This game will start you just after the lock point. When you Unzip this
patch into the ANGEL directory on the hard dirve, the files for the saved game
named "workaround" will also be copied, and you will see this in the first
saved game slot. DO NOT SAVE OVER THIS GAME. When you reach the point in the
program at which the lock occurs (shortly into the second disk, after you
disarm the grenade), load the "workaround" game and continue from there.

This update fixes a problem using the Creative Labs PnP (Plug and Play) sound
card and it also contains an earlier patch which fixes a problem accessing
disk #2 with older Sony CD-ROM drives like the CDU 33A.

IF YOU RECEIVED THIS PATCH ON A 3.5 INCH DISK

PKWare's PKZ204G.EXE. This self extracting file is the shareware version
of PKZIP and PKUNZIP 2.0. To copy PKZ204G to your hard drive, do the
     following:

        1. Make a directory on your hard drive called PKWARE. From the
            C:\> prompt type:

                     MD C:\PKWARE and press Enter.

            Type:

                      PKZ204G and press Enter

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
   1. Log into the subdirectory where Angel Devoid has been installed.
The default subdirectory name is ANGEL. Type:

                      CD\ANGEL and press Enter.

   2. This update utilizes updated audio drivers which fixes the PnP problem.
To properly revise the program, the older audio setup utility SETSOUND
       needs to be removed. Type:

                      DEL SETSOUND.EXE and press Enter.

   3. Unzip the contents of the patch disk into the \Angel subdirectory or
the subdirectory Angel Devoid has been installed to. Type:

                  C:\PKWARE\PKUNZIP A:\NEWANGEL -O C:\ANGEL and press Enter.

The above line is taking the following into default:
C:\PKWARE is the name of the directory where PKUNZIP can be found.
C:\ANGEL is the location of the Angel Devoid game on your hard drive.
If PKUNZIP or Angel Devoid are in locations different than the
       defaults, change accordingly.

You may be prompted to overwrite the file ANGEL.EXE. Answer YES. The
contents of the disk will now be copied into the Angel subdirectory.

   4. You will now need to reset your sound card options. Type:

                      SETUP and press Enter.

The HMI Setup Configuration Screen should appear.

SELECT DIGITAL - manually choose your sound card for digital sound.
SELECT MIDI - manually choose your sound card for midi sound.
TEST DIGITAL - plays a sample digital sound.
TEST MIDI - plays a sample midi sound.
OK - exits configuration program saving your settings.
CANCEL - exits configuration program without saving settings.

       2. Try Auto Detect. If the program does not acurately auto detect
your sound card, choose Select Digital and Midi to manually select
your sound card. Choose OK, to exit the program and save your
