Chessmaster 8000

northamerican version 1.01

company: MindScape (www.mindscape.com)

homesite: www.chessmaster.com

Version 1.0.1 addresses numerous issues, most notably:

-- Greatly improved time usage by the engine in the "Moves per
Minutes" time control.
-- Fixed a problem with the "Seconds per Move" time control, in
which the wrong amount of time to use was being sent to the
engine(s).
-- Fixed a bug that could cause the computer to hang (or appear to
hang) if sound failed to initialize during startup.
-- Fixed a bug that occurred on some machines in which Thematic and
Simple piece movement sounds would only play if Chessmaster was not
the active application.
-- Fixed a bug that involved a failure to recognize a 3-fold
repetition draw in certain circumstances.
-- Fixed a bug involving fast-moving computer personalities (such as
Max and Lacey) in which the personality could stop responding and
eventually lose on time.
-- Fixed three Windows-2000/NT specific crashes.
-- Made some modifications to the Winboard protocol parser that
allow several more XBoard engines to work properly with Chessmaster.
-- Fixed a bug that would cause The King engine to stop thinking
after only reaching 1024 positions. This bug would only occur with
certain combinations of Time Zone settings (Adelaide, Brasilia and
Santiago at least) and versions of Windows.
-- Fixed several bugs that could cause evaluation scores to be
signed improperly in either the Thinking Lines window or after Game
Analysis.
-- Fixed a bug that would prevent game annotations to be saved in
the PGN format, copied to the clipboard or printed.
