SEGA Touring Car Championship Frequently Asked Questions / Troubleshooting
***************************************************************************
Q: I get a message saying the DDRAW.DLL or DPLAYX.DLL is missing (or
that I must have Direct X installed). How do I fix this??
A: The SEGA Touring Car Demo requires Direct X5. You can download
it off the SEGA web site (www.sega.com) or Microsoft's web site
(www.microsoft.com/directx). Please read below to see if you
need special Direct X video or sound drivers.

Q: If have a 3DFX voodoo card and am using the Direct 3D patch.
Everytime I try to run the game it crashes. What can I do to fix this??
A: There is a known driver incompatibility with the 3DFX Voodoo
drivers version 2.14 (especially if you have an ATI Rage 2 card
in the same machine). The way to fix this problem is to get
the latest version of the 3DFX drivers (Version 2.15 of the 3DFX
drivers has appeared to fix the problem).

Q: I just installed the patch, but the graphic quality is not as high.
What can I do to increase the graphic quality.
A: The default settings of the patch are Direct Draw, Low Texture Detail,
and Low Resolution (320X240). To fix this:
   1) Go to the Game Settings Options in the Settings Menu in the Menubar
and change the Texture Detail to High.
   2) Change the Display type from Direct Draw to Direct 3D (in the Display
      Menu in the Menubar).
   3) Change the resolution to High Resolution (640X480) by choosing this
Screen Mode Option in the Settings Menu in the Menubar.
   4) Also make sure all of the Direct 3D features are enabled by choosing
the Game Settings Option in the Settings Menu.

Q: How do I set make my joystick work with SEGA Touring Car??
A: First make sure you gamepad/joystick is properly configured and
calibrated under the windows 95 control panel. The next thing you
must do is start SEGA Touring Car, pause the game by hitting F3,
and then choose "Device Settings" from the Settings Menu in the
menubar. Then choose the type of peripheral you have and choose
   "Next".
Please note: if you have an analog steering wheel, joystick, or
analog pedals, SEGA Touring Car WILL SUPPORT THIS!! Direct X5 has
added analog support and we have support for both Steering and
Pedals. To turn on the analog support - choose the "Analog
Control Settings" option from the Settings Menu in the Menubar
and then check the Analog Steering or Analog Pedal options.

Q: What are the system requirements for SEGA Touring Car??
A: The minimum system requirements for SEGA Touring Car are:

   90 MHz Pentium Processor
(also works on Cyrix or AMD brand Processors)
   16 MB of RAM
   Windows 95
Direct X5 with Direct X compatible video card and sound card

Q: How do I make SEGA Touring Car run faster?
A: Here is a list of several tips that will make SEGA Touring Car run faster:

   1. Make sure you have the proper Direct X video drivers loaded
for your video card - this is the number one cause of slowdown
(see list below for some of the most prevalent video cards that
require special Direct X drivers to be downloaded from the
       video card manufacturer's web site)
   2. Make sure all of other programs are closed.
   3. Set your display setting for Windows 95 to 640X480 resolution
with 16 bit color - you can do this under "Display Settings"
in the Windows 95 Control Panel.
   4. Try playing in low res (320X240), you can also try playing with
       low detailed textures.
   5. Increasing the minimum amount of Virtual Memory for Windows
95 will also increase the speed of SEGA Touring Car.
   6. Try turning off the sound effects

Q: During gameplay, there are no Sound Effects. How do I fix this?
A: What most likely happened is Microsoft's Direct X overwrote your
sound drivers. Since SEGA Touring Car uses Direct X5, your
previous drivers are backed up when it installs new drivers.
One way you can restore the drivers is to:

   1. Double Click on the "My Computer" icon
   2. Double Click on the "Control Panel" icon
   3. Double Click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon
   4. Choose "Direct X Drivers" and then hit the "Add/Remove
       Programs" button
   5. Click on the "Restore Audio Drivers" button

Certain sound cards require special Direct X drivers to be
downloaded from your sound card manufacturer's web site:

   1. Aztech Labs - standard in most Packard Bell computers (www.aztechca.com)
   2. Crystal Semiconductor (www.crystal.com)

you can obtain your IP address by going to the Start Menu,
choosing "Run" and then type "Winipcfg". You can play with up
to 8 players in both the Demo and Full Version of the game.

Q: Is it true that SEGA Touring Car has Force Feedback Support??
A: It is true that this patch adds much greater support to SEGA
Touring Car has support for Force Feedback peripherals that
have driver support under Direct X5.
This means if you have a Force Feedback Joystick or Steering
Wheel that is supported by Direct X5, your Joystick or Steering
Wheel should have Force Feedback effects as you bump, skid,
   and race down the road.

Q: Will the full version of SEGA Touring Car support my 3D
   Accelerator Card??
A: We understand the importance of supporting 2D and 3D accelerator
and that is why this patch has been released!! This patch is
compatible with the following 3D chipsets:

        Intel 740 chipset (www.intel.com)
Nvidia Riva 128 or higher (www.nvidia.com)
Renditions Verite 2200 or higher (www.rendition.com)
3DFX Voodoo, Voodoo Rush, and Voodoo 2 (www.3dfx.com)***
        3D Labs Permedia 2 or higher (www.3dlabs.com)

*** Please note: If you are having problems with the D3D version
and you have one of the above mentioned cards - please make sure you
have the latest drivers from your video card manufacturer's web site.
There is a known issue with 3DFX voodoo cards: make sure you have
Version 2.15 of the voodoo drivers because there is a compatibility issue
with Version 2.14 when you also have an ATI Rage 2 card in the same
machine.
