Get your race on!

Welcome to the NHRA Drag Racing re-release from Motorsims. This simulation was created in order to allow the player to simulate NHRA Top Fuel Drag Racing. At speeds over 300 mph your decision making must be right on.

NHRA is a re-release product. The following will explain the changes Motorsims made to the code in order to bring you a more realistic and fun gaming experience.

System minimum requirements:

Pentium 133
Windows 95/98 with DirectX 7.0a & DirectX Media
32mb RAM
4mb standard 3D video accelerator
4X CD-ROM drive
Controls: Keyboard and/or Mouse

Recommended:

Pentium II or better
Windows 95/98 with DirectX 7.0a or better & DirectX Media
64mb of RAM
3D hardware video accelerator with 16mb memory
32X CD-ROM drive
Controls: Keyboard, Mouse, Joystick and/or Steering Wheel

"Q" key to quit. Now you may quit while in the game (on the track). Before you where required to finish the race and go back in to the "results" screen and the quit from within the user interface. Simply press "Q" and a dialog box will pop up and ask if you are sure you want to quit.
Note: if you are on the track and use the "Q" key you will be disqualified from the run if you decide to abort the run. Also, you will be charged the normal $3,500 from your budget while racing in the "Single" event or "Season" event types.

Textures - We noticed a problem when players attempted to load higher resolution textures. In the previous version, you could choose any texture resolution with no consideration of your system configuration. This version of the NHRA software will detect your video card and only allow you to load textures that the system can display properly. You can access the video textures form the "Options" menu.

4mb video cards or less the player will only be able to choose the "low" textures.
8mb video cards will allow the user to chose both "low" and "medium" textures.
12mb video cards or more will allow the user to choose from "small", "medium" and "high" video textures.
16mb (or higher) video cards will allow all choices of all textures including "Ultra".

**Note: Buttons are deactivated on texture resolutions that are too high for your configuration to display properly.

Faster load times for the tracks. In the first release, the track textures could take a long time to load on slower machines. In this version, the initial track textures will still take time to load, but subsequent races at the same track will load much more quickly.

**Note: Turning on the "In-Car" driver feature via the "Options" menu, will increase load times.

Two new car textures in the game. We have added two "Moto1.net" car textures for a T/F Dragster and a T/F Funny Car. The car physics are the same but now reflect our Moto1.net site (all motorsports all the time). For you motorheads out there this is your site!

AGP button to Ultra. In the "options" menu you will now see "Ultra" instead of AGP. This texture selection will provide players with high-end cards the ability to load car textures that are 512X512 resolution.

**Note: 3DFX cards will not work with this setting as they cannot display textures larger than 256X256.

**Note: The game will always choose the secondary video card. For example: If you are running a TNT2 based card as your Primary Video Card and also have a Voodoo2 Card installed, NHRA Drag Racing will always select your Voodoo2 Card.

Refined the "tree" timing. The xmas-tree timing is now frame rate independent. You will also now see the red-light times on foul starts, provided the tree has been activated. If you leave very early, you will still get the "FOUL" indication.
