Holy Wars Version History
-------------------------
(Note: this file registers publicly distributed versions only)

* 2.22 SE (November 6, 1999)

-> Fixed: player ID text overwriting chase-cam text in spectator mode
-> Added: optional parameter to levels.ini called "fix". Using this
   parameter tells Holy Wars to compensate for a telefrag error caused
   by teleporter destination pads which are "buried" in the map floor.
-> Changed: levels.ini to add the "fix" parameter where needed
-> Changed: motd.txt to reflect the new server number

* 2.21 SE (April 26, 1999)

-> Fixed: server crashing due to "Info string length exceeded"
-> Added: GNU/gcc Makefile to the source code for unix developers
-> Changed: hwdedic.bat and server.cfg to agree on options
-> Changed: motd.txt to reflect the new server number

* 2.2 SE (February 8, 1999)

-> Merged with Quake 2 3.20 source code. New support for visible weapons,
   spectator mode and chase cam, CTF-style player ID, and sv_maplist map
   rotation.
-> New pak file for resources. New model for halo.
-> New map - UltraViolence by Escher.
-> Fixed: halo only makes a sound when colliding with another entity.
-> Fallen halo can be shot and bounced around (optional).
-> Changed detailed scoreboard to optional rather than cycling it with the
   standard scoreboard. Exec sb_cycle.cfg to restore the cyclic behavior.
-> New menu system for MOTD, inventory, spectator mode, player ID, and
   scoreboard preferences.
-> Changed param.ini settings to console variables (see server.cfg).

* 2.1 (09/04/98)

-> Becoming an heretic is easier by default, takes out most of your
   stuff/health and gives negative frags (SCORE_BecomeHeretic param).
-> Killing an Heretic gives you 3 juicy frags.
-> Players getting many neg. frags cannot shoot (SCORE_Llama param).
-> New scoreboard/statistics.
-> New MOTD.
-> Parameters are now parsed at each start of level.
-> Weaker power armor (same as CTF).
-> BFGs turned into Hyperblasters by default (MISC_UseBFG param).
-> Some new sounds for heretics.
-> Compliant to the Quake II Logging Standard 1.2 (used by GibStats and others).
-> New MISC_IntermissionTime parameter to configure intermission length.
-> Players can now throw verbal abuses and comments during intermissions.
-> Rocket Arena menu system integrated in code.
-> Fixed: Demos now work.
-> Fixed: Small graphics problem with swarms of flies.
-> Fixed: HW6 textures.
-> Fixed: Telefrags/respawn telefrags problem.
-> Fixed: Disconnect/reconnect Q2 problem fixed, code cleaned.
-> Fixed: Visible teleporter destinations hacked out from HW6
-> Fixed: The usual minor things.

* 2.00 (04/09/98)

-> First Quake II version! Everything has been rewritten in C.
-> Completely new sounds.
-> New system for adapting new maps to Holy Wars with a simple console
   command.
-> Holy Wars can now be played on unsupported maps as well.
-> A fallen Halo will now disappear very soon and take a while before respawning.
-> New external configurable server connection message.
-> External parameters for people who like to play with things.
-> Advanced customizable map rotation system.
-> Complete heresy system.
-> All single player stuff stripped away from code (much smaller DLL).
-> Halo movement optimized for Internet games - inertia off by default.
-> Lots of other changes: new halo skin, stuff... Well, you get the idea.
   It's a total rewrite, after all.

* 1.5 Special Edition (26/01/98)

-> 5 supported maps from Escher included!
-> Source included in official distribution.

* 1.41 (11/04/97)

-> Aww... I credited the head skin to the wrong artist. The only changes
   from 1.4 are in this TXT file.

* 1.4 (11/03/97)

-> Client-side support: new sounds and models.
-> Support for skins.
-> No-lag option for Internet servers.
-> Built-in support for some new maps.
-> Minor stuff.

* 1.2 (06/04/1997)

-> Statistics at the end of the game and with IMPULSE 60.
-> Support for all of id's maps.
-> The Halo is now teleported with the owner, to avoid the previous
   impossibility to recognize the Saint soon after a teleportation.
-> The Halo shines blue particles when it's free, to improve visibility
   (exp. on GLQuake).
-> Deleted unnecessary messages ("You have taken some ammo" and other such
   useless stuff).
-> "What to do" message at respawning.
-> Random respawn spots.
-> Optimized Halo movement function (now almost twice as fast, useful on
   slow systems).
-> Other very minor things and bug fixes.

* 1.01 (05/19/1997)

-> Corrected a bug that generated "Unknown entities" when starting certain
   maps.

* 1.0 (05/15/1997)

-> First publicly distributed version.
