1.1 WHAT IS DISPOSABLE HEROES?

Disposable Heroes is a deathmatch pack for Quake
and Quake II. This preview version features 3 maps
and 1 patch for Quake II...

1.2 WHY "PREVIEW VERSION"?

Disposable Heroes is a commercial product. This
is the shareware release.

The full version's Quake II section includes over
35 maps, three new mods, as well as new skins, models,
textures and sounds...

The pack also features maps, mods and art for Quake.
Check our website at http://www.TheCoven.com for more
information, as well as a Quake I preview version.

1.3 HOW DO I GET THE FULL VERSION?

The full version is available from -

	http://www.thecoven.com/dhbuy.shtml

---------------------------------------------------

        ---------- 2.0 PREVIEW ----------

2.1 HOW DO I USE THE PREVIEW?

The Quake II section of Disposable Heroes comes with
its own frontend (Tectonic CE), which you can download
from The Coven website -

	http://www.thecoven.com/dhdlq2.shtml

To join a server, first get the IP address from the
list on our website (www.thecoven.com), then start
Tectonic CE. Look in the top right of the screen for
an area labelled "Hostname". Select "Join Game", then
type in the IP address in the box where it says "Join A
Game At". Finally click on the "Join Game" button at the
bottom of the screen.

To set up a server select "Host Game", select whether
you want to run a dedicated or listen server (a listen
server is one you can still play on whilst hosting the
game), select one of our maps from the Map list, and
select MAD from the "Game dir" list at the bottom
of the page.

There is a seperate page for MAD that you can access
by clicking on it's tab. This will let you set all the
special options that are included in MAD, such as whether
or not to allow nuclear weapons and grapple hooks...

Once you've got it set up as you want, just go back to
the front page and click on the "Host Game" button to
launch the server...

Note that MAD includes map cycling and message of
the day options. Check mad.txt in the mad directory
for details on setting it up. By default the mod will
cycle through all 3 maps in the demo version of the pack.

If you are running Disposable Heroes on a dedicated
server, please e-mail us at feedback@thecoven.com so
that we can list your server on our website.

If you have any problems setting up a server, e-mail
feedback@thecoven.com for help.

We have also included a GameSpy tab to help you find
servers running the demo.

To install the GameSpy tab, start up GameSpy,
then pull down the "view" menu, go to "custom tab"
and select "import". The tab (mademo.qst) should
be in your quake2 directory. When selected it will
list all the servers running this preview version.

If you don't already have it, you can get the free
shareware version of GameSpy at http://www.gamespy.com

2.2 WHAT IS THE MAD PATCH?

The MAD patch replaces Quake II's weapons (apart
from the blaster and grenades) with different rocket
types. Full technical specs of the rockets from
the MAD patch can be found in mad2.txt (in the mademo
directory)...

The first time you run MAD, bring down the console
and type in "exec mad.cfg". You will need to do this
to make sure that the new rockets are correctly bound,
replacing the standard Quake II weapons.

MAD also supports CTF. To play MAD with id's CTF
maps you will need to copy the Q2CTF pak0.pak from
quake2/ctf to quake2/baseq2, making sure to rename
it to pak9.pak (or any other free pak number) to
avoid overwriting any paks already there...
