-= THE STORY =-

In the beggining of the new millineum, an american assassin was to kill a chinese senator at a meeting of the world's presidents. When he came to shooting the senator, he accidently shot the Russian President, killing him instantly. The assassin was found guilty, but that wasn't enough for Russia. In excatly 2 months, they declared war on the United States. After a few weeks of bombardments, Russia pulled out 5 nuclear warheads, and aimed them at different cities in the USA. Each missile hit it's target, except one, which exploded in the ocean. Millions died in the exlposions, and thousands more from tidal wave that swept away the sea side cities. America retaliated, firing 7 nukes at Russia. America succeded, and now china joined in the war, helping russia. England eventually joined, then Australia, India and so on. World War III was now in progress, and was to be the last war fought.

At the same time, leading scientist from around the world were building a huge dome under the ground, to be called 'Project Oasis'. Once it was under way, no-one would be able to enter or exit the dome. Scientist grew trees, grass and bred animals inside the dome. Then millions of people were bought to the under ground city to live.

After 3 years of nuclear war, then entire world was destroyed. All sources of water on the surface was evaporated. Trees, plants and grass died, and nearly all human life fled underground. Many animals began to mutate from the radiation of the blasts. The people living in Oasis below the ground knew nothing of what had happened above. They thought the war was still raging on. It was over 200 hundres years later before a human ventured out onto the surface. Some poeple dedicated their lives to finding it and no-one ever did. People began to give up hope and then they went their seperate ways. Oasis rose to a mythical status.

Small towns were erected all over what was left of the world. People dared not venture out of their towns, in fear of mutants and gangs. One town, Jovania, had a leader named Jargon. This man was pure evil. He built armies, and all the inhabitants were to obay his orders, or they would be executed. Jargon became sick of Jovania, and set out to find new places to conquer. His men raided towns, taking water and killing innocent civilians. Poeple fought back, but Jargon's men were to strong. They eradicated armies in minutes. The Jovans became the rulers of most towns in a few short years...

				...................

You wake up in your bed. You look out side and guess it's about 9am. You had that dream again. The one where you are surrounded by trees, grass and birds flew above you. You look over to your side table and see a book. A book, written by Jeffery Green, called 'The Legend of Oasis'. Then it comes to you. Your dream was a message, telling you to find Oasis. But you have no idea where to start. Mabye you should find Jeffery and talk to him about it. With that you pick up a knife and an automag, pack your bag, then head out to the endless wasteland, in search of Oasis...

--------------------------------------------------------------

-= BEGINNING A GAME =-
Run the game using the Wasteland.bat file found in the wasteland directory under Quake2. The game will then play a Technica Studios animation. When that is finished, simply type 'startgame' (minus the quotation marks). This will begin the game for you. Read the 'New Key Bindings' section for information about the controls.

-= THE DEMO =-
This demo release of the Wasteland Warrior TC will begin in your basecamp. There are a number of places you can go during the demo, but the only one on the list at the start is the Xenon Village. By the way, the cheats have been taken out.

-= GAMEPLAY =-
The gameplay varies from that of Quake2. You control a 'Warrior', a loner who lives in a post-apocalyptic world. You read and dream of a place called 'Oasis', and you make it your personal mission to locate this place. There are plenty of weapons to find and use, each with their own unique damage systems.

	-THE EXPERIENCE POINTS SYSTEM-
Through out your adventure, you will gain experience points for
accomplishing different tasks. These may include killing enemys, helping
people or finding something. Each time your get 3000 experience points,
your Warrior will go up one level.
The different levels allow the warrior to use new weapons. For example, the
Combat Shotgun is a level 2 weapon (marked in the corner of the weapon
icon). If you become a level 2 or greater warrior, you will be able to use
this weapon, but if you are only a level 1 warrior, you cannot use this
weapon. Also, going up a level will increase you max. hit points by 20.
NOTE: All weapons in the demo version are level 1.

	-THE DAY/NIGHT CYCLE-
The game revolves around days. The game will begin at midday. After 2
minutes, the sun will begin to set, and the sky will change. Then 1 minute
later it will begin to get darker. Midnight lasts for 2 minutes, and
midmorning lasts 1 minute. This cycle continues throughout the game.

	-TRAVERSING-
To move from one place to another, you must 'traverse' through the levels.
To get to the traverse menu, you must move back to the desert area where you
began the level. This will bring up a menu on which you can select the place
where you want to travel to. Only those places your character knows of will
be visible. You must first learn the location/name of a place to actually
travel there. Sometimes, while traversing, you may be inturupted. You may
get attacked by some enemies, or your character may stumble apon something,
or he may become dehydrated and had to dig for water. To get out of one of
these maps, head for the corner opposite the one you entered.

	-CIVILIANS-
As your progress in your adventure, you will encounter civilians that have
settled in towns or shacks around the world. Most civilians will talk to
you and give you information for your adventure. Some will also sell things
to you. To talk to a civilian, simply move up to them and touch them (this
may be replaced by a better system later).

	-BARS/TAVERNS/INNS-
If you speak to the bartender at a bar, tavern or inn, you can rent a room,
buy a drink or buy food. Food and drink will give you extra Hit Points. Food
will give you more HPs than drinks, but will cost more. Renting a room will
let you sleep for 12 hours.

-= THE MENU =-
The menuing system is used frequently in Wasteland Warrior. It is used for options, traversing, speech, etc. Use the [ and ] keys to move your selection up and down. Use the 'Enter' key to select an option.

-= NEW KEY BINDINGS =-
There are a few new keys that must be used to play wasteland. These can all be changed by typing 'bind [key] [command]'

	-PRE-BOUND KEYS-
[R] - Switch between third and first person modes ('attack')
		[O] - Open doors ('opendoor')
		[P] - Options menu ('options')
[W] - Zoom camera in ('in')
[E] - Zoom camera out ('out')
		[1-0] - Change weapons

	-CONSOLE COMMANDS-
stopmidi - Stops current music from playing
		playmidi - Plays current music

-= MISC. NOTES =-
If you are speaking to an NPC and you don't have time to read their text, simply press the console (tilde (~)) key to replay the conversation. It will bring down the console so you can read everything that was said to you.

You may notice some of the maps may be incomplete or the lighting is a bit stuffed up. This will be fixed by the time the final version is released.

When traversing, if the menu item flickers back between two options, simply move the player backwards a few steps and try again.

-= CREDITS =-
There are many people who should be thanked, but aren't here. I have included all the people I can remember here. If your name should be here, but isn't, it's not because i'm ungrateful, it's because i'm forgetful. If you think your name should be here, email me (Fallout) and tell me your real name, nickname, email, ICQ number (if avaliable) and what you contributed to the mod. Thank you to all who have helped!!
