like as long as this archive remains intact and unchanged.

This archive contains 2 Adobe Photoshop 5 plug-ins. These plug-ins should work
with any program that supports that standard. These are true format plug-ins,
meaning that if they are properly installed they will show up in the file lists
of Save As... and Open dialogs.

To use them, copy the 2 *.8bi files into the plug-in folder of your software.
This directory varies with the software, but is normally called "plugins"
(conveniently enough). Once installed to that directory, run your software
(rerun it if it is already open) and you should see two new file types in
your dialogs:

RSBBitmap writes a .RSB file suitable for use in interface bitmaps. These
only contain a 16-bit version of the bitmap. This is smaller than the
RSBTexture format, but if the game needs a palettized version (i.e. the file
is used as a texture in software mode), the game will need to create the
8-bit data, thus slowing down loads.

RSBTexture writes a .RSB file suitable for use as a texture. These contain
both the 16-bit version and an 8-bit palettized version of the bitmap
(required for software rendering of textures). If the bitmap contains an
alpha channel, no 8-bit version will be created.

Either plug-in can be used to read any RSB as they both read just the 16-bit
data and convert it to 24-bit for your paint program. Alpha channels (4444
16-bit format) are supported.

These are provided to you as-is and are unsupported. Do not contact technical
support for assistance. Improper use of the tool can cause your game to stop
working. You have been warned.

Updated 4/26/99: Fixed a crash bug when using "Save As" under Photoshop 5.
