DeltaEditor V1.0

Kelly Dempski (delta_force_mods@hotmail.com)

Included is a VERY EARLY pre-alpha, test prototype, proof-of-concept editor for
Delta Force.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

New Features:
* Ability to change objects
  1. Type the new name of the object in the name field
*exactly* how it appears in the items.def file.
  2. objects/vehicles/decorations/buildings appear to interchangeable - people are not -
you cannot change anything else to a person or vice versa (it seems), I'm guessing
markers should not be changed as well. Be very careful when changing one type
     of object to another.
* Get Terrain button now gets the terrain description file.
  1. use this to change water level,
  2. change camo color
  3. change color properties
  4. sun position
  5. others...

Mission idea: (This is something I want to do, but probably won't get
around to it - any takers??) - Create a mission in which you must sneak into a
heavily defended base to blow up something. There is a front entrance, but you have no cover (flat terrain)
and there are many towers/bunkers. The base is surrounded by wire except in one place
where a divot in the ground allows you to crawl under the wire. You can crawl in and through
a set of buildings until you get to one of those big hangar things (with mostly closed doors...)
The hangar contains the thing you need to destroy, but one end of the hangar is crawling with
bad guys. You lay a satchel charge, crawl out, and blow the thing (radar dish?) up without
anyone ever seeing you. MP variation - modify the map so one team spawns inside the base
and the other spawns outside. One team must defend the dish, the others must destroy it.
Lots of buildings give lots of places for people to actually patrol instead of just run
and shoot. Both sides understand that the match "ends" when the objective is destroyed, although
the game itself will not end automatically...

How to use:

1. backup your dfbase.pff file
2. extract the zip file, preferably into your DeltaForce directory. It doesn't matter where
you put the executable, but the items.def file must be in the same directory as your
   dfbase.pff file...
3. Run the executable
4. Select the appropriate directory
5. Wait a moment - then drop the combo box, you should see a list of missions.
Sorry the names aren't more descriptive, that's all that's in the mission files...
6. Choose a mission, the list should fill up...
7. Editing...
   a. The only changeable attributes for now are position - changing the name of the item
       accomplishes nothing.
   b. Change the X, Y, and Z positions by clicking on the number and changing the value.
THERE IS PRESENTLY NO ERROR CHECKING - if you put anything other than numbers in
the fields, god help you, that'll screw things up!
   c. When you have made all the changes, click the save button. The mission should
now be changed. Close the program and try it out.

8. About the missions: I will try to post more info as to what multiplayer missions are
called in the game. For example, MPNAME14 may correspond to a capture the flag mission
in a given terrain, but I don't have all of those mappings yet...
9. The easiest missions to edit should be capture the flag missions - moving the flags/bases
are easy and will have the greatest effect on gameplay for the least effort.
10. I will make enhancements as time permits, anyone interested/able is welcome to help...

Good luck, I will try to answer questions if you have any, and I will try to post any
information (such as mission descriptions) that people send me. Let me know how things go.

Known issues: I have compiled this on an IE4 machine, nonIE4 machines may have difficulties.
