INSTALLATION

1 - Unzip the file into your main Quake2 directory.
2 - Execute Quake2.exe
3 - Drop down the colsole with the ~ key.
4 - Type "map bfg4ever" and the map will load.
5 - To play in Deathmatch mode (because there are 
    no monsters in SP) type "deathmatch 1" and hit 
    return before typing "map bfg4ever"

As this is only a beta, this .txt file is 
incomplete.  A more detailed .txt file will be 
included in the full release.

PLAYER LOADOUT
================================================

I recommend at least 3 players (1 v 1 gets really
boring in a map this size).  6 to 8 seems to be 
ideal, though.

BOTS
================================================

A .aas file is included with this map for playing
against Gladiator bots.  If you don't have this
bot, you can download it at 
www.botepidemic.com/gladiator

CONCEPT
================================================

This started out as a BFG-featured level.  It has
grown into a Quake tribute level.  The middle area
is the Quake2 tribute with the BFG in the middle 
of the room.  The "moorish" level has Quake1 textures
and even the Quake1 fire sound for the torches.  The
large outdoor area has some imagry inspired by 
Quake3Arena.  The tusks or spikes (whatever you wish
to call them) in the open area were partially 
inspired by the movie Pitch Black.

MISC NOTES
================================================

IN a couple of places r_speeds go over 1000.  I 
decided this was OK because most people's systems
are more powerful than they were when Quake2 was
first released back in '97.  If you're using a video 
card, you shouldn't have any problems.  However, if
you are using software rendering, you may want to
type the following commands in your console before 
loading the map:
sw_maxsurfs 5000
sw_maxedges 5000
This will reset the maximum number of surfaces 
that software rendering defaults to.
