Intro
-----
Welcome to the first beta version of Rocket Arena 2. This version is just
the first stage of what we feel will become the best Quake 2 Deathmatch mod
ever.

Please read this entire file, as it contains important info on installation
and how to play the mod. Make particular note of the --Known Issues--
section!

Installation Instructions
-------------------------

READ THESE THOROUGHLY BEFORE INSTALLING

To install: simply extract the pak0.pak file into an "arena" subdirectory
under quake2.
e.g. c:\quake2\arena

The file quake2\arena\pak0.pak should now exist. If it does not, you will
not be able to play with all the maps/sounds.

************
Important info on GameSpy 1.5x
************
GameSpy 1.5 does NOT have a method to set the Quake 2 game directory. To get
GameSpy to work correctly with Rocket Arena 2, you MUST change the Quake 2
command line in VIEW-OPTIONS-GAMEPLAY to something like:

quake2.exe +set cddir Y:\install\data +set basedir c:\quake2 +set game arena

Notice the "+set game arena" part! If you do not do this, Quake 2 will not
be able to find the RA2 maps or sounds.
************

To connect to a Quake2 Arena server, use GameSpy (www.gamespy.com) to find a
server that is running Rocket Arena 2 (look for "arena" in its title).
Click, and play. Your game directory will be set to "arena" automatically.

If you get an error about a sound or map not being found, you installed the
pak incorrectly or did not set up GameSpy as above.

To run a server you must download the SEPERATE ra209sv.zip

Navigating the Menus
--------------------

The menus are controlled by the same keys you use to do your inventory.
invprev and invnext ([ and ]) go up and down on the menu
invuse (ENTER) selects an item
inven (TAB) toggles a menu on/off. If a menu does now show up when you think
it should, try hitting TAB a few times. Also, if you are in an arena, and
want to leave, hit TAB to bring up the observer menu.
invdrop (') decreses values in the Admin menu (see server readsrv.txt for
info on admin) while invuse (ENTER) increments them

How to Play
-----------

When you first join a server, you will be asked to either join a team, or
create a new one. If all the teams are full (or it is only set for 1 person
per team) you will need to create your own. It will then present you with a
menu of the arenas on that level. For normal deathmatch levels, there will
be only one arena. Using the menu, select which arena you want to compete
in. If you do not have enough players on your team to enter that arena, you
will be told so.
Once in the arena waiting area, you will wait in line for your chance
against the champion. The Winning team stays on the battleground until they
are defeated. If you choose to leave the arena, bring up your observer menu
using the "inven" command (TAB) and select "Leave Arena". You cannot leave
the arena during the match, only during countdown or in the waiting area.

Version Info
------------
The version being released today is still not feature complete, but it
includes much of the framework on which we will build.
--Current Features--
* Up to 256 arenas per level
* Up to 128 teams on a level
* Up to 128 players per team
* Custom menu system
* Fly Mode for id maps (will add as toggle for RA2 maps)
* Advanced map rotation
* Displays a menu of all arenas to pick from

--Planned Additions--
* Default skins and support for custom skins, lock skins for each team
* Allow map makers to define default weapons for their levels
* Chat only in your arena
* Trackcam
* Player status for people playing
* Seperate arenas based on ping
* Level voting
* Betting
* Team scoring
* Better support for id maps (less extra menus)
* Better support for 1v1 play (more info, less menus)
* Server linking
* Tournament Play:
	-Option of n-elim or round robin
	-Run across multiple servers :)
	-Option to set which map/arena(s) is played for each round

--Known Issues--
* Right now in RA2 MultiArena maps (such as ra2rg1) you cannot use the
teleporters to the arenas. You MUST use the menu.
* Team skins are not set or locked, so players can switch during a match
* Sometimes the menu can overflow a client, but you should not disconnect.
Just hit tab a couple times to bring it back.
* The players' health/armor are not displayed anywhere, mainly because for
large teams this would pose a problem. We will work around this later.

Map Credits
-----------
As you can see, we only included one map in this release. This is mainly a
testing/feedback release, and many many maps are in progress. I converted
this map from a Q1 Multi-Arena map done by Tesh that was never really
released.

I would like to personally thank all the Rocket Arena fans out there who
have written me TONS of mail with compliments, comments, and suggestions for
the mod. Also, I would like to thank Basty and the PlanetQuake guys for
their support and resources.
