Setting Up Your Binds!

In order to play Gloom (or Quake2 for that matter) you must have movements binded to your keys. The following binds can be copied and pasted in a text file. You need to save it as 'autoexec.cfg' without the .txt extension. Just make sure to remove the '<--' and anything past it or it will all be messed up.

Basic binds for movement: The cfg file that came with Gloom is set up for the basic 'Thresh' setup. Other basic things you need binded:

bind a "+moveleft" <-- Strafe left
bind d "+moveright" <-- Strafe right
bind w "+forward" <-- Move forward
bind s "+back" <-- Move back
bind space "+moveup" <-- Jump
bind ctrl "+movedown" <-- duck
bind f "cmd flashlight" <-- Toggles your flashlight (Humans only)
bind e "use health" <-- Uses your Healt Pack (Humans only)
bind g "cmd grenade" <-- Throws a Grenade (Humans and spiders)

Note: Certain classes have grenades. The humans are ShockTrooper, Commando, and Exterm. Spider classes that uses grenades are the Stinger, Guardian, and Stalker. If you press g as any other class, it'll just say 'out of item: grenade'

The Human Commando (3 frag class) also has a C4 explosive device. You can go through your inventory item by item untill you find it, but it would be easier just to press a key, wouldn't it?

bind c "cmd use c4 explosive"

You must press it once to prime the device, and again to drop it. I recommend you prime it on your way to the target, but not in your base! If you should be hit by a spider and the c4 is primed, you will accidently drop it. If you do this in your own base... Bye bye human spawns! And that will make alot of your team mates verrry angry. So use caution. (The c4 priming computer is delicate and doesn't resist shock too well. If you should fall a great distance and it is primed, chances are good you will be blown to smitherinies!)

Voice Pak Binds

If you downloaded the optional Voice Pak for humans, you also have some great voices to play around with. But first, you need to incorperate them in your binds as well. Here's how...

bind 1 "cmd voice 0" <-- Spawn class sound (Example: Mech "System Running")
bind 2 "cmd voice 1" <-- Ask for backup (grunt: "Where is the backup?")
bind 3 "cmd voice 2" <-- follow me sound (grunt: "Stay with me.")
bind 4 "cmd voice 3" <-- confirmation msg (grunt: "Yes Sir!")
bind 5 "cmd voice 4" <-- Need ammo msg (HT: "I'm All Outta Missiles!")
bind 6 "cmd voice 5" <-- assistance (Grunt: "Our Base is under siege!")
bind 7 "cmd voice 6" <-- taunt (grunt: "Ah ha! Fragged Another!")

The binds above also work if you play spiders alot. (That is, if you can speak spidy! :)

Weapons

You can also bind keys to various weapons as well. Just keep in mind that each class has his (or her) own unique weapons and that not all weapons are available at once.

bind 1 "use pistol"
bind 2 "use Shotgun"
bind 3 "use Scattergun"
bind 4 "use autogun"
bind 5 "use submachinegun"
bind 6 "use mortar cannon"
bind 7 "use Rocket Launcher"
bind 8 "use magnum bd"
bind 9 "use Pulse Laser"

also necessary:

I recommend you bind "+use" to your second mouse button. This will bring up a builder menu for the engie/breeder, and also is used for some special class abilities. (Stalker will shoot spikes, Grunt/shock trooper/Commando will reload their current weapon with a new clip, or it'll activate/deactivate the Exterminator's power shield.
