Requiem for Q3A Installation/FAQ; Requiem version 0.5

NOTE: This is a static text file that is inherently out of date. We recommend
checking the www.planetquake.com/requiem website for the most recent version.

This guide should help you debug any issues, as there are some gotcha's ...
If all else fails, check the forums at the Requiem for Quake III Arena home site.
(http://www.planetquake.com/requiem/q3req) You may want to browse there anyway to view the
most recent version of this file. Please make sure you do that before reporting
any problems to us. Thanks!

At this point, you're reading this file because Requiem is already installed.
You should have a C:\program files\quake iii arena\requiem (or whatever the path
to your Q3A install is) directory with the following
files in it:

requiem05_snd01.pk3
requiem05_mdl01.pk3
requiem05_img02.pk3
requiem05_vm03.pk3
runespawn.cfg
server.cfg
maprotation.cfg

You may also have:

q3config.cfg
q3key

If there are any other files such as:
requiem05.pk3
requiem03.pk3
requiem05_img01.pk3
requiem05_vm01.pk3
requiem05_vm02.pk3

You will also see a file called 'reqserv.bat' in your
c:\program files\quake iii arena directory. This will start
a *dedicated* server. You may edit this file to your liking.

These can be deleted (and should be removed before reporting problems).

Hook customization and key binding:
Load Q3A and connect to a requiem server. Go to the setup/options menu,
(hit <esc>), and then follow the instructions below:

   Hook 'skin' customization!
You can select various 'skins' for the grappling hook to your viewing preference!
Go to the setup menu, player settings, and at the bottom you can select the
	skin for the grappling hook.

Getting a key bound to the hook, slide, and droprune commands
	Hook - controls -> shoot
	Slide - controls -> movement
	droprune - controls -> misc

Notes
YOU MUST NOT have the 3 precompiled/"speed-enhancing" .dll files installed.
Check to make sure you don't have: uix86.dll, qagamex86.dll, cgamex86.dll
in your base Q3A folder or any of it's sub-folders (ie baseq3,
requiem, etc). You may need to (win98): View -> Folder
Options. Click "View" tab. Make sure the Advanced Settings are set
to: Show all files is marked. Hide file extensions for known file
types is UNchecked. Then click OK. This will guarantee that
you can see the files you need to delete, and their extensions.
If you have arenaspy installed, you will not be able to see
the menu options for the hook and slide. I recommend uninstalling
arenaspy and just using gamespy. There are ways around this, but
it will only cause more serious problems in the future as new
   versions of requiem come out.

Troubleshooting
   Common mistakes include:
	The "fast" dll's are installed
You don't have the point release installed (this MUST be at
version 1.17. Your lower righthand portion of the console
	should say "1.17")
You have arenaspy installed. This is NOT compatible with a mod
that has a client-side download like Requiem. Uninstall it and
	use gamespy instead.

If it's just not working or is acting strange, you might try deleting
(or renaming) your requiem folder, and re-installing - especially
if you had an older version installed. If THAT doesn't work, try
waving a dead chicken over your computer, or perhaps you can just
send an email to q3reqsupport@reqoning.com and we'll take care of you.
