Textures:
WIZWOOD1_5 and CIELING5

Entities:
Some lights. A start point. Nothing unusual.

Other required Stuff:
An editor capable of some flavor of brush subtraction (alternately, a very good sense of
3d space, no small degree of insanity, and a LOT of patience. It also helps a lot if you
have tons of money to spend, as the people making these things for real, by hand, did.)

What To Do, What it is, etc:
This archive contains a small level demonstrating a hallway with a groin vaulted ceiling, as
found in most gothic cathedrals. It also comes with the map (which incidentally contains the
brush I used to cut the arches) and a .mrg brush merge file of the arch-cutter brush for the
BSP editor (creates less brushes than the original one I made from a normal arch, which was
in segments and probably would have quadrupled or more the number of brushes in the map).

I made this after picking up some architecture books from the library (inspired
by quakelab, but unfortunately not finding the books I was after to begin with).

It shows the effect of a simple gothic pointed arch when two of them intersect in a
square block (in this case, repeated along a hallway). You can do much more with
this arch, such as have it ribbed, different lengths on perpendicular sides (which
is not possible with the older semicircular arch), more ornate columns, etc.
Check out some architectural history books for examples.

The main drawback is that this has a hideous price in brushes when used as I have done.
In practice, you would probably want to be somewhat more sparing with them. I imagine
they also play hell with vising times, so don't get too extravagent and try replicating
Salisbury Cathedral or something.

Have fun
