3 Fingers' Quake2 Combat Pak Ultra 4/20/99 Version: .99

This is a improved version of my original Combat Pak. In addition to the original, I changed one of the crosshairs (can't remember who sent it to me, but thanks), added a new font and added lots of new sounds. Otherwise the below readme is from the original file.

Files included:
readme1st- This text file
pak9.pak

After playing Quake2 for 10 months, I have collected all of what I feel to be the best mods to improve your
gameplay and make Quake2 more enjoyable. I have assembled them into this one Pak file (3 Fingers' Combat pak).
This is exactly the same Pak file I use for Quake2.

Here is a list of some of the things in the Pak9.pak

1. 3 new and larger crosshairs
2. Very high visibility CTF skins (no problem telling red from blue)
3. Very high visibility tool bar
4. Very high visibility weapon and ammo icons
5. A few new sounds like: Better RL & GL explosions, louder outwater sound and stuck grapple bug fix etc.
6. New menus (just to break the bordom)
7. Other little stuff I can't remember

INSTRUCTIONS:
Place the pak9.pak file in your Quake2/baseq2 folder. If you use CTF then also put a copy of the pak9.pak file
in the Quake2/ctf folder. If you use LMCTF then also put a copy of the pak9.pak file in the Quake2/lmctf folder
as well. If you have Arena, then put a copy in the quake2/arena folder also. I think you get the picture. If you
already have a pak file named "pak9.pak" in the folder where you want to place the new pak9.pak,
then just rename one of the pak files to a different number. In other words, rename the conflicting pak file to
"pak8.pak" (or whatever number that is not being used). You can have pak files named/numbered from "0" to "9" in
each game directory folder. Quake 2 allows non-sequential pak file numbers. Remeber this if you are using other pak files that mod Quake2. If you have 2 files named the same name in 2 different pak files, then Quake2 will always use the file in the latter numbered pak file when 2 files are named the same name.

If you do not like the new font, then download "PakExplorer" at: http://quakestuff.telefragged.com/
Open the pak9.pak using PakExplorer and delete the file named "conchars.pcx" located in the "pics" folder inside the pak file.

If you decide you don't like this pak file, Just delete the pak9.pak file from your Quake2 directories.

I wish I could give credit to everyone that made some of these mods, but I can't, as their names are not to be found
to give the credit. A few that I do know are:

Hell Hound AOD- The 1 big Crosshair
Some of the CTF Skins- Alan Yen
Some sounds- Brett Jacobs
The rest of the stuff was "author unknown". If you made any of the files in this Pak file, please email me and
I'll give you credit.

Enjoy,
Brett "3 Fingers" Jacobs
