[1] SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

If you're playing the game, you met the requirements, however, there
is one thing to note, is that the older card (like my Rage LT Pro) will
NOT handle well here, with framerates dipping below 10 often. A Voodoo 3
or TNT 2 (or higher) shouldn't be bad at all (I'd hope).

=============================================================================
        {A} Gameplay Improvements

If you DO have a Rage Pro, or another slow card, I find it best
to set the TEXTURE QUALITY down to the 2'nd worst setting. 2'nd best
will get choppy, top-notch will crawl and lock up the PC. Setting it
at it's lowest ran good, but it looks butt-ugly. Turn on the fake
lighting and Rage Pro's won't dip under 20FPS, under 640x480.
I noted no difference, AT ALL, with curve quality HIGH or LOW.
=============================================================================
        {B} If Playability REALLY Sucks

Drop to a lower resolution, like 400x300, or even 320x240. The
dithering looks really bad, but your framerates will go up quite a
bit (about 15FPS at the slowest).

[3] THE STORY:

A long time ago, a shrine was built for the masters of Deathmatch. From
scanning the Earth, among other planets, they came up upon a design that was
loosely based on gothic archtecture from their own world, plus some Earthly
designs from the Victorian era, the end result was the Shrine of Deathmatch.
Over the years, it has served as a training ground for deathmatch upstarts,
using paintballs and other safe products so as to hopefully not hurt their
new recruits. In spite of it's rather small appearance, 16 people put into
the arena had to look long and hard at times to find anyone, which helped
make the popularity of this shrine so great.
The masters shared the suites on the 3'rd floor, in the center wing, when
one noted the roof leaked, and got worse rather quickly. The head of the
Deathmatch Committee said it doesn't matter, since the rooms were not being
used all that often, and to just let the problem go. What a mistake that was.
A few months down the road, the roof in one of the suites collapsed,
destroying an entire suite, and cracking the floor system underneath it.
The building was then condemned for safety issues, as work began on extensive
renovations, such as new shingles on the mansard roofs, and repairs on the
other flat roofs. After that, a new roof was put over the gaping hole in the
central wing. Once that was done, the floor they were standing on finally
came apart, and sagged a few feet, so action was needed. Large, steel beams
came in to build a temporary support structure to hold that floor up for the
most part, but the large windows in the vicinity had to be blown out so the
beams could be brought in for the work. Once that was done, the windows were
mostly bricked up, except for a much smaller window were to be placed within
some openings, the rest completely walled up, and to be covered up with new
plasterboard.
As stablization work was completed, the plasterboard was installed over the
new window areas, as older windows were removed elsewhere to be done up in
the same manner, when they realized the costs were getting way too high to
fix up the place. Work quit on the lower floors, and the rebuilding of the
ruined suite also stopped. It was later realized the cost of the upkeep and
of other needed improvements were too high, so then they have abandoned the
old shrine, boarding it up, then leaving it to Mother Nature and vandals, for
about 6 years.
After the 6 years of window smashing, amonst some other damage, the
building was reopened and lit up with new torches and lighting systems, so
that the new massive deathmatch groups that are forming can have a place
small enough to be not overwhelming, but have enough area to handle a larger
group. Having some money, they cleaned up a little of this wreck and did a
little work to make the place suitable by the smallest means. The only extra
money they did put in was to replace two smashed-out large mirrors on the
lower level, as to hopefully trick a few people to shoot at ther own
reflections, as well as to see who could be sneaking up upon them.
They aggree that some places don't look to bad, some look like hell, and a
lot of the building was still sound over the years, they started to play
deathmatches, for real, in the abandoned shrine once used for training....

[4] PLAYING THE MAP:

NOTE: Depending on how your game is set up, some commands may be redundant.
This assumes that trying to load a map just brings you back to the
       Quake III Arena Title Screen:

     * Place the 7FIFFY1.BSP and the 7FIFFY1.AAS files into a your
C:\QUAKE3\BASEQ3\MAPS directory. If you want the 7FIFFY1.DM3 demo,
put that into your C:\QUAKE3\BASEQ3\DEMOS directory.

!! Don't know HOW to make the directories? I can't remember how to
do it in Win9x, but the "old-school" method works:

          (1) Click on START, then PROGRAMS, then to MS DOS.
          (2) Create the directories you need by entering:
              MD C:\QUAKE3\BASEQ3\MAPS And for demos:
              MD C:\QUAKE3\BASEQ3\DEMOS
          (3) Put maps, AAS files, and demos into the directories
              afformentioned.

     * Start up Quake III Arena as normal. Get the Main Menu to appear.

     * Bring down the console and enter SV_PURE 0 (Allows game to accept
       add-on maps, like this one.)

     * Now enter MAP 7FIFFY1 There you go. Take a look around before you
add opponents for single player fun, or multiplayer mayhem.
=============================================================================
{A} ADDING BOTS FOR SP GAME:

There's two ways to do this, this is the easy way:

            * Start the map as mentioned above.
            * Hit the ESC key, and select ADD BOTS in the Main Menu.
            * Add the bots you want. That's easy to do.
            * After adding the bots, escape the menus. You'll be back
playing, and the bots will appear.

Here's the tougher way of doing it:

            * Remember that you must've entered SV_PURE 0 at the console.
If you didn't, do it NOW.
            * Start a MULTIPLAYER game. On the bottom, select CREATE.
            * Select a standard map, then move to the next set of options.
            * Select up to 11 bots to play against. Some spaces will need to
clicked twice to allow a bot to fill that space in.
            * Once you've done this, select FIGHT.
            * Once the map starts, bring down the console, and enter
/MAP 7FIFFY1 (The slash will be needed this time)
            * DERELICT should load, and those bots will come with you, too.
=============================================================================
        {2} PLAYING MULTIPLAYER

Anyone wishing to play this in multiplayer mode must all have a
copy of Derelict on their machine, including the main server.
Quake III can find maps on a LAN or Internet that plays other
maps than what the game came up with. Sort the list my MAP NAME
and look for 7FIFFY1, or REoL TOUGH: DERELICT (No idea how the
names are sorted, either by map name, or filename). Select that
          server, and off you go!
Don't ask me how to create a server, as I have no clue. :)

[5] SURVIVAL TIPS:

  * In Single Player Mode, it's safest to gather ammo and health on the 2'nd
and 3'rd floors, as enemies usually don't frequent those areas as often.

  * Rocket Launcher is on the 3'rd floor, Quad on the 2'nd, center wing, and
a Railgun in the Basement, which was to be a secret area (bots gave away
where the secret was, so the secret concept was scrapped). There are
other weapons and power-ups to find, but those are the ones people tend
    to go for.

  * A lot of rooms and doorways can be a bit on the small side, but that can
provide you many ways of losing an attacker, and ways to ambush. There's
plenty of wide open spaces, too.

  * Sometimes, you COULD use the two side-by-side RED ARMOR, especially if
you fall or get ambushed, especially in the courtyards (remember, it's a
3 story building, with lots of windows).

  * The Suites have dead-ends, note that! There is a set of windows that are
completely removed for emergency egress, but you'll lose health on the
    fall.

  * When indoors, you will always be in an enviornment that is at least three
stories in height (includes basement in central wing). Sure the map looks
small, but it can be tough to find others, even with 16 players!!!

  * Careful of arched doorways, as they protrude some. Don't get caught up in
    the edges. :)

  * There are some deep sniping spots for that being the sole purpose of
them. They are near the Atrium.

[6] KNOWN BOO-BOO'S:

  * There's some weird brush positioning if you load this up in the editor.
The odd carving and placement of thin brushes were to remove weird HOM in
floors and ceilings, which did their jobs, except for one, where one of
the covered entryways "dissapears" at ceartain angles.

  * Believe it or not, I'm a keyboarder, but I made the demo using what I'm
told to play with, the mouse. Looks like I'm high on pot or something. :)
Get caught on edges, lose bearings, you name it, I did it. I did get a
few good Railgun hits with it, though.
